Yeah, me telling my child not to go and watch Wasps is exactly the same as making them a racist homophobe.

I will tell them they can't go and watch Villa or Leicester too. Maybe she will grow up an Islamaphobe because of it.

On a serious note - I have discovered a wasps nest in my house.
Should I call in a specialist to get rid of them or should I move out and start paying them rent?
I don’t know - I’m confused.

So to be crystal clear, if I educate my kids that you think you should follow your own city’s rugby team (Coventry RFC) and not a London franchise that’ll be here a few years this will lead me to/I will be/am a racist, sexist preacher?

I learn something every day on this site.

I think re. our continued link at the Ricoh is dodgy more than we all think. This CVC thing has been bubbling away for quite a while, Maybe Wasp main man Richardson and pals knew something like this was in the pipeline when searching for a new home and why they were looking. These business types can be years ahead of the game in their plans and ideas.
Add to that this continued legal saga puts added spice to things and let’s remember this current bit we are waiting the result of again is only to allow a judicial full review of the Wasp buying the Ricoh arena I suspect if that’s allowed situation between sisu and Wasps could become nastier. My solution if possible is to find suitable land somewhere in Cov and build our own stadium but where ? I can’t think of any brown field site suitable or acceptable to council planners or local residents.

I expect another one year extension, but at increased cost as Wasps try to recoup their legal costs

Nick Eastwood did indicate that if 'obstacles' still existed then they would not be in a position to negotiate a deal for the 2019/20 season. Maybe their financial situation has changed enough to test their resolve. I guess only time will tell.

that's absolutely barking. Teaching your kids not to like a sport or a sports team is like teaching them to be racist or homophobic?
I disagree with quite a lot of what you say but it's generally fairly well thought out and sensible, that's just nonsense mate.

there's a bit of ambiguity about this because the statement London wasps put out indicated there would be no negotiation over any deal if the legals were still going on but that same week a video of an interview with eastwood was put on social media by a radio station, (can't remember which but it wasn't CWR, might have been Free), and he clearly says no long term deal could be negotiated while the legals are going on. Didn't dismiss the possibility of a short term deal.

Needs a unanimous vote to happen and they won't get that. Bath have already said they're definitely voting against and there's said to be other clubs not keen. Of course the money is great but there are concerns that once you give up control you aren't getting it back.

It’s easy to justify why they should not go and support Wasps. Most fans of sports teams would agree that franchising is wrong. It deprives the people of the area where the sports club was set up, where it’s history and roots are of following the team that belongs to them. Surely every parent should teach their child what is right and wrong. To franchise a team is simply wrong.

Little different in Wasps case though, they had already moved from their “home” in London to High Wycombe, personally I think they should have gone back to the London area but with a brand new stadium standing empty and idle and thinking of the cost to buy land in London to build a new ground I can see why they chose the lure of the Ricoh.

So you would have been justifying us moving to London from Sixfields then if there was some cheaper land knocking about?

Course not.

I remember that argument when the Premiership was first announced but money talks and if enough clubs want it they’ll split away, also we don’t know the format of this apparent offer, I’ve read bits and pieces and as usual it’s all as clear as mud but one thing I noticed was a new “super” league could incorporate invited foreign clubs now club rugby is massive in France for example and if Southern Hemisphere clubs got involved who knows what might happen.

They were still based in the south east though. While many would still travel to Whycombe to watch them play it is a lot harder and more expensive for them to trek a hundred miles north for every home game.
It also rankles with me that the RFU had no objection to them moving into a City with a long established rugby club with arguably a much more glorious history than Wasps. Should they not take into account all of their clubs’ needs? It is hard to see how Wasps being here is anything but bad for Cov as well as for City.

Of course not, what a silly question, not for me to justify anything Wasps or us should do. This thread is about where we might be playing next season. A lot on here seem to be assuming we will just go on and on just paying rent and I’ve said don’t bank on it. perhaps I’m being too pessimistic but I fear for our future regarding our home ground simply because we, that’s ccfc have little control over things re. the Ricoh.

I would also worry about where we are playing if the court case isn’t settled. The guy from Wasps was pretty definite that no deal would happen if the legal action continued. It is hard to see where we would play if the Ricoh is closed to us. Nuneaton is perhaps the likeliest place but a lot of work would need to be done I would think for it to meet League standards.

Okay, but I wasn’t trying to justify their move here but gave a possible reason why they came north rather than back south where they belong. Should never have happened, but then the whole crap ground issue should never have happened going back to Richardson and McGinnity. It’s that catastrophic decision, moving ground etc. that has ultimately put our football club in the hands of our present owner.

It must be so difficult trying to get a sponsorship for the stadium under the current conditions.

I would say getting CCFC to sign a ten year deal would do wonders for a sponsorship deal.

I'm sure even City in the third division would be more preferable to sponsors then any other sporting club there for exposure.

Shouldn't we have a piece of the pie as well?
