Good job they have someone competent in charge then
It was a leading question. The percentages of inequality in developed countries is all very similar as a percentage. NZ is still 10 places ahead of the U.K. though in the GINI chart for OECD countries. The US comes last, just behind us.

Interesting reports coming out of New Zealand that despite securing the biggest victory in five decades Jacinda Ardern is considering a coalition government including opposition ministers, 'to make use of their ministers’ specific experience'.

Also being reported that she has said she, government ministers and public service chief executives will take a 20% pay cut lasting six months saying it was important the government’s most highly paid politicians show “leadership and solidarity” with workers on the frontline and those who had lost their livelihoods.

Proper leadership. We can only dream of it in this country

Imagine voting for Boris fucking Johnson. It was obvious it was going to turn out like this...

It's fucking laughable.
Of all the stunts these snake oil salesmen have pulled the 12 billion trace and track has me absolutely stunned (hence the amount of times I mention it).
For the first time in my life I actually wanted to put in some sort of official complaint but seen as it would go to Hardings husband I thought it would pointless. It's fucking corrupt.

Yes let’s all dream of being New Zealand

8th on happiness index, we're 15th.
Similar life expectancy (6 months more)
Better climate
Only $1k less on GDP per capita despite not trying to be an economic superpower or using this as their main way of assessing success.
Nigher ranked education system
A PM who actually seems to have some idea as to what their position entails.

We could do worse.

Well has she reduced wealth inequality in her 3 years yet?
Still better than ours. If you were actually as wealthy as you like to pretend you are you would welcome their tax laws as would those on your actual income. Forgot to say. As well as being better than us for wealth inequality they also have a much larger middle class than us as a percentage of population. Probably explains their fairer tax system.

NZ certainly appear to have a good leader no doubt.....maybe after shes had another little dance, she could turn her attention to reducing the hideous levels of structural discrimination & institutional racism that exist in her country.....

I think there is an awful lot of world leaders that need to do this.... starting right here for one.

That’s the one thing that sits uncomfortably with me about NZ, the inequality between people of Maori and South Pacific decent and everyone else. They have lower life expectancy, disproportionately incarcerated, more likely to live in overcrowded living conditions, more likely to be lower earners, more likely to be poorer educated, less likely to be home owners etc etc. Mind you there’s a section of society in most countries that you can say that about. We’re certainly not immune in the U.K. for instance. The big difference is that people of Maori and South Pacific heritage were the original settlers in New Zealand.

Andy Burnham the latest person to take up the reigns as opposition leader as the person actually employed to do it won't for whatever reason.

I've said it many times before but there really needs to be some sort of repercussions when politicians come out with complete and utter bullshit.

Johnson has claimed today that Sadiq Khan had effectively bankrupted Transport for London before coronavirus. Under Khan TFL's deficit has fallen by 71% since he took over from Johnson.

Its hard to keep up with the amount of shit this government comes out with. Almost missed this one yesterday.

There was a meeting of the Housing, Communities and Local Government Select Committee looking at the the government’s new Building Safety Bill. Lord Greenhalgh, the building safety minister, said the government would not protect leaseholders from the costs of replacing unsafe cladding on buildings.

Welcome to the let them eat cake stage of government

Saw that, was on Politics Live this lunchtime. They were talking about Rashford's request to extend free school meals over the school holidays.
Siddiq, Labour MP for Hampstead, said Labour would be pushing for free school meals and Scully, Conservative MP for Sutton, said he wouldn't be supporting it. His justification was kids had gone hungry in the past when under Labour governments.

Absolute clowns. It’s genuinely all about their obsession with Labour. They haven’t got a fucking clue what to do with power they just don’t want the other side to have it.

Genuinely disgusted by this lot. British people deserve a proper government. Not this corrupt bunch of overly paid Twitter trolls.

It would be an appalling response if the recent election had seen them take over from a Labour government. Reality is Labour have lost the last four general elections yet they think 'but Labour' is an acceptable reply to pretty much any question.

I suspect having read a few Tory voters on here that they’re mirroring their voters. All we heard before the election was “but Labour”, nothing about how great the Tories would be just how terrible Labour would be. Not just rent free but handed a Wasps style lease in their head it seems ;)

British people have got exactly what they deserve.
The Tories didn't stage a military coup to obtain office

Nah.....Even despite Labours policy of fence sitting & self-harm ..More folks still voted against this shambles than for it...and there were millions already too disenfranchised to bother......and even those misguided or selfish enough to actually vote tory probably still deserve to see some sort of competence, organisation, transparency, leadership.......but no.

You only have to look on here at how many people defend them, or even how indignant they get when people criticise them or fail to employ the fabled positive thinking to know they can get away with murder because large swathes of the British public are absolute roasters.

I've lost my patience with them. They've made their bed and they'll no doubt make it again in a few years out of fear of whatever bogeyman the billionaire media moguls have got them in a tizz about.

I think they must work on a policy of being that despicable as a party that they just grind you down to pieces so that you don’t even have the energy to push back. No matter how awful you think they are one week - they trump it the next.

Imagine voting down measures to feed free school meal kids in the holidays, just as the Furlough scheme is about to end, and half the country is shut in their house.

But at least we didn’t get free Broadband so that’s a relief.

You can't bung your mate 12 billion for a spreadsheet and feed children. You've got to get your priorities right.

That’s the thing - in their mind they do have it right, it’s exactly the right priority for them. And 40% of the population lap it up.

Its a terrible argument. Lets assume he's 100% right and in every case of child hunger it is the parents to blame, although we all know that isn't the case. What are they doing about it? First and foremost its not the childs fault so your priority should be to make sure they are fed. Once you've taken care of that isn't there an issue of huge failure in child protection? If he really believes millions are parents are neglecting to feed their kids when they have the means to do so what is being done?
