Always the same when those at the top need to put their hand in their pocket. So many things over the years: introduction of the minimum wage; any increase to the minimum wage; any attempt to tax companies etc etc, all met with the same 'the economy will collapse' and 'everything will shut down' narrative.

Yes I saw that.

Fourth survivor quits grooming inquiry as Mahmood insists it won't be watered down

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood seeks to reassure survivors who are angry about the way the inquiry is being set up.
www.bbc.co.uk

Part of the problem with having such a deeply unpopular government is that you lose the ability to do anything that requires basic co-operation or buy-in from the general public.

It’s another example of Starmer trying to look popular and then just doing the opposite.

The victims wanted a high court judge to do it and instead it’s a former police officer or a social worker.

It’s a disaster. Last night on C4 one of the victims said Jess Phillips was no better than the police and that she just thinks the victims are not worthy of being heard and she is protecting the establishment- shambles.

Just a remarkable story about how easy it is for powerful investors to make openly Islamaphobic comments at the highest levels of the boardroom

Client Challenge
Sequoia Capital’s chief operating officer resigned over comments made by partner Shaun Maguire that she regarded as Islamophobic, as political debates sow division at one of Silicon Valley’s most powerful venture capital firms.

Sumaiya Balbale — a practising Muslim who has spoken publicly about how her gender, ethnicity and faith have shaped her career — stepped down after five years at the company in August. Her decision to leave was precipitated by Maguire’s social media posts, according to three people with knowledge of the matter.

Maguire, an outspoken and high-profile investor who is close to Elon Musk, wrote on X in July that New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani “comes from a culture that lies about everything. It’s literally a virtue to lie if it advances his Islamist agenda. The West will learn this lesson the hard way.” Balbale complained to other senior partners at the firm, who declined to take action against Maguire, arguing he was just exercising his right to free speech, the people said. She left soon after, feeling her position was untenable.

It’s not commonly used, only by the people who want to make it a thing.

Define it please as it’s currently a made up word that can mean anything. Not great when it’s being slung around by politicians.

Surely it’s ok to not like a religion that wants to kill everyone in a different religion, accepts paedophiles, marries their cousins, hates women having rights and wants to kill all homosexuals?

Would that make me islamaphobic that’s all I’m asking?

Bearing in mind i offer no ill feeling to people who want to practice it they are free to do as they wish. But does that make me islamaphbic to come out and say I don’t like the religion?

Is there a more commonly used term for prejudice against Muslims that you can think of?

The definition isn’t difficult to grasp.

Well yes, but if you tried to assert that all Muslims (or Catholics or Jews) believed these things even when faced with clear evidence to the contrary then that would seem pretty prejudiced to me?

Ok so why is it the Quran says all infidels must be killed. That’s people who don’t believe.

So be definition it’s perfectly fine for Muslims to says all other religions must be killed but no one can criticise Muslims or they are Islamophobic. How does that sit right ?

I don’t think it would be “perfectly fine” for anyone to say that people of other religions must be killed, there are hate crime laws for this kind of thing.

You seem quite interested in the semantics and hypothetical arguments around one particular word I used, but no interest in the actual story I posted?

Parts of the Bible describe God ordering his followers to commit genocide against certain ‘enemies’. God goes on to punish the followers for sparing some of them.

I was wondering if there's a book of Abraham or a chapter that would specify such as I'm confident there will be something in the Qur'an or other)

If you get all your information from a fat bloke down the pub, or two-names Tommy, it's no wonder you spout this Islamophobic bullshit.

Educate yourself man, for fuck's sake - you don't have to be a complete twat who buys into and then mindlessly repeats all this nonsense, it's a matter of choice...

Why does the Quran say that infidels should be killed?

The Old Testament generally describes a very harsh and unforgiving God. Jesus Christ then is a far more conciliatory figure who would be written off as a hard left woke lunatic by some of the self described Christians in society.

Pick your poison. I don’t believe in God, but the message of Christ I can get on board with.

Bollocks, you haven't even properly quoted the verse from the Quran, let alone understood it or put it in context.

You're a typically lazy far right loon, who grasps the first thing he can find to confirm his prejudice, and rolls it out thinking he's some kind of genius. You've literally done that here.

Talk about brain-washed, is there a Tommy Robinson style Islamophobic trope you haven't fallen for yet?

C'mon, let's get going on the great replacement theory - I know you're just bursting to start on that next.

The last page of this thread is exactly why all of this has become such a difficult thing to tackle.

We've got a story about grooming gangs, and the fact the victims once again don't feel heard or that this is being dealt with properly or fairly.

What are we talking about? Islamophobia, how bad Christianity is, and even Tommy Robinson has managed to make an appearance.

Yes haven't some of the girls' involved just deliscredited the inquiry, like you wouldn't want to spread your anxiety on the others involved or something?

However they feel is valid. My gut feeling is that like many other injustices in our country, your access to a favourable outcome is proportional to your wealth and influence.

These girls are some of the most vulnerable and least well off, so it doesn’t surprise me that some feel it’s pointless getting involved. What happened in the Post Office scandal was just outrageous as another recent example.

Yeah but from what I can gather some of the more extreme cases have been suggested to,not spread their experiences

I was listening to a podcast the other day some copper from down south suggested that the character's Rosie and Jim had been corrupted on the boating community to reveal which sex was their preference I kid you not,a hotbed of activity due to their transient lifestyles.
Also His home patch has revealed a bit of a conspiracy, some shocking cases of Care homes, and obviously race related also!

I posted stories about both the grooming gangs and the scandal at Sequoia Capital, but it seems people only want to talk about the definition of Islamaphobia. Oh well.
