It’s a quote attributed to Winston Churchill, not something your ‘old professor’ said, unless he was referencing him. A lot of us are neither, but social democrats wanting a mix of the government running some things and the free market others.
I thought it was Dennis Healey but I ain’t bothered to check.

Glad this thread exists so we can see folks hyping a bloke that digs Nazism on a forum for a club who's city was destroyed by Nazis. Not weird at all.

Drivel

I say attributed to Churchill, there’s no record of him saying it. It certainly didn’t originate with this ‘old professor’ anyway.

Reminds me of a professor I knew once, he said to me, “Terry”, he said, “Terry, I have a dream today. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal'”.
I can’t remember his name now. Think he taught woodwork.

I’m not suggesting anything my friend
Societal collapse comes when wealth inequality reaches the levels we are now seeing
Look in the history books
Blame all the billionaires and rich people who have created all the big companies that employ everyone, same rhetoric every single time it’s hilarious. It’s almost as if you don’t want people to enjoy hard earned money

I love how people extrapolate a wildly extreme position from a comment people make

billionaires shouldn’t be a thing it’s a monstrous amount of money a million millions

If we don’t work out a way of managing it the world won’t work

Almost starting to sound like that fucking clown shmmeee, it’s always the attitude of wanting stuff given and taking away from the rich. Why shouldn’t people be billionaires that have come from nothing and worked hard, typical socialism bollocks

Didn’t the generation before you share their resources to help you succeed? Why should it stop with you?
That was like the poll tax debate, you'd get my boss at the time arguing for, even though he'd come through the ranks from Irish decent,no kids bungalow up round the back of The crem not aware that his family of 8kids had all been educated, knew every loophole going in the tax.system,we were able to discuss this as simple people, explain our differences and get on with things, exciting work, hard work, best boss I ever had in reality, don't know if that's possible now?

Unless we intend to have anarchy, people need to contribute some of their resources to the pot of money from which we can pay for a functioning society to live in. That's all tax really is when it comes down to it.

That and you get more bigoted as your brain plasticity and world shrinks.
I read a couple of studies a few years back that were researching if there was a link between early signs of brain deterioration and the likelihood of voting for parties to the right of centre.

From what I can recall they very much did find a link but were at pains to state that the studies weren't comprehensive enough to asset it as fact.

But the theory was essentially that loss of empathy is one of the early signs of brain deterioration, we see that with the stereotypic increasingly casually racist old person, and with the loss of empathy came an increased likelihood of right wing parties appealing.

8am on a Saturday. Wanking over yougov and calling everybody racist and thick. Life goals.

Weird as fuck to get life views from small polls.
I think I've missed this. Has it been decided that polls are 'fake news' now? Is it just some polls or polling in general?

Crack on with sharing your resources then. I've grafted and sacrificed and now reaping the rewards, I should now have to share them to people who couldn't be bothered?
Unless you're extremely wealthy, and we're not even talking top 10% here more top 1%, I don't think you really need to worry.

When people talk about the sharing of resources, with reference to wealth, they are mainly talking about the super rich. The fact that we're seem a huge transfer of wealth in the last 15 years to those at the very top which many people feel is unfair and needs to be reversed.

The idea that the very richest in society are getting a lot richer, by doing very little different, while we have record numbers of people in work on benefits due to poverty wages doesn't sit well with some people.

Tell that to Harold Wilson (dementia is said caused his premature retirement from politics) and Nigel Lawson (razor sharp till the end). 🤭

P we probably diet related, pipi smoker v cigar smoker?
Lawson was a right fattie while he was an MP he lost the weight quite late in life and lived to be 91, Wilson died aged 79 and was never substantially overweight.

Anyway my point is that citing a 'report' is insufficient reason to assume any correlation never mind causation.

You are forgetting that socialism wants a redistribution of the wealth, so wealth creators stop creating wealth, (because what's the point) and those who create fuck all and do fuck all, are rewarded for doing fuck all.
Then eventually all men are equally wealthy, which means we are all in the same queue at the food bank.

Fantastic idea.

Never said there was.

And what's so funny about aeronautical engineering?
It’s good to see someone on here that lives in the real world, there are only a handful of us but the minority on here are the majority in the real world. Will be an all timer on here when reform get in
