Disgraceful (11 Viewers)

One takeaway from this episode is that the vast majority of football supporters are utter twats
I think the takeaway is some people posting about it online are twats. Most football supporters are actually pretty decent genuine people.

The first time, ever I saw your face

Such a depressing set of circumstances.

The young kid in the first place for doing it. Even at 14 it’s a horrendous place to stoop to, no matter how much you’ve been riled up by someone.

But for me, the way it was purposely spread online instead of privately reported, is nearly as bad as the act itself.

The victims in this are The Lowery family and arguably they only know about it / feel the distress because it became an online wildfire. That’s far more harming and ongoing to the family than what could’ve been a privately reported incident to the police / club… but the person uploading it put this in the face of the Lowery family, all because they either wanted a few likes online or to entice a trial by social media of a 14 your old kid - either of which are wrong.

Those awful social media football accounts that have jumped on it because they know it will get huge engagement are an absolute shitstain too.

All-in-all a depressing situation which I only hope is lined in silver by the donations to his charity continuing to grow as an apology.

if I’m a moron for wanting someone punished for causing so much pain and grief to the family of a child who died of cancer so young, then I’m happy to be a moron

Also, fuck you and if you want to give me your opinion to my face I’m more than happy to listen to your reasoning…. fucking c**t
Oh dear, Mr Dictionary has deserted you today!

Yes, they want the club to take "appropriate action".

Appropriate action would be a stadium ban and formal apology.
Have they?
I read they wanted everyone to calm down and just hope the charity gets more donations.
Just a very honorable and loving family.

Interesting to see their thoughts on the Jimmy hill chants in the away end?
But that doesn't count.
They have a few songs like that.
We should have sung, He's laughing at you he's laughing at you jimmy Hill he's laughing at you.

What a silly youngster. 14 yo and should have known better.
2 year ban and stern warning ftom Police feels proportionate.
Anyone sharing his photo on social media or threatening him or naming him is out of order as end of day he is a child and protected under law.
Sure we all did really stupid stuff when 14 egged on by stupid mates.
If real , the Sunderland fans suggesting pi$$ing on Jimmy Hills memorial garden need a little ban too, if Wearside police have sufficient resource. The Stadium Of Light might be half full next game.
Both clubs need to come together and use this faux hatred (its embarrassing) to stop the 'Jimmy In A Box' song if they sang it again Saturday? ( not sure I heard it). Sorry mess but proud a lot of Cov fans have come down heavily on him.
Club/Doug will probably do something nice for Bradley's family quietly and under radar.

Not taking anything away from the appalling behaviour of this lad and he should receive a banning order and appropriate punishment but over a number of seasons now we have seen various football fans of different clubs arrested and prosecuted for this type of behaviour.

A wolves fan was arrested and charged for mocking the death of seven Boro fans in a traffic collision
Four Chester City fans arrested for mocking the death of a Wrexham fan
Four Man Utd fans arrested for mocking the Hillsborough Disaster
Two Cardiff fans arrested at the match mocking the death of a Swansea fan
Two Milwall Fans arrested for mocking the death of the Leicester City owner and not to mention the banners put out on the M69 a few years a go.

So for several seasons now we have all had to listen and read on social media vile chants and the mocking of the death of Jimmy Hill by Sunderland fans both home and away. Social media posts by their fans encouraging the destruction of his memorial and to urinate on his memorial and yet all this seems to go unchallenged by both Sunderland Afc, our own club and the relevant police forces.
Is it a case of the fact its easy to deal with one or two fans but because its a few thousand away supported all doing it its in the to hard to deal with box by the police.

All these incidents of mocking death is not just harmless banter by football fans and as far as Im concerned the age of the victim doesnt make it any more acceptable as some on social media seem to think.
They should all be dealt with the same as a vile and disgusting action that has no place in football and Im sure the family and wife of our late chairman were at some of these games where Sunderland fans have sang these chants are absolutely disgusted and upset by their actions and yet they seem to get swept under the carpet by the clubs, police and media.

I think we need a banner at next game to show support to Bradley's memory and calls for chants about Jimmy Hill to cease.. Also Club and SBA ahould make donations to Bradley related charity

I know you mean well mate, but let's not do that
Yep.

One dickhead did something that everyone agrees was wrong, and now they will have to accept the consequences of that.

There's absolutely no need for hand-wringing any further comment from us at all.

Looking at all the furore this has caused, why did the bloke videoing a 14yr old not report it to a steward or the Police to dealt with, instead of posting it on social media? There is no excusing what the lad has done, but asking for a 14yr old to be named and shamed is against the law for a minor anyway.
These hypocrites from Sunderland seem to think that their posts about Hitler bombing Coventry, and pissing on a Memorial garden and singing about Hill are somehow just banter!! The lad will suffer for his actions and rightly so,but fuck me, some of those Mackem trolls need to look in the mirror.

This is what frustrates me. There's several options available to deal with this that don't involve plastering it all over the internet and tagging the poor lads family.

The club provide a dedicated number for reporting issues on a matchday, there's a ton of stewards in the away end it could have been reported to, there's also a ton of police that could have dealt with it. If someone did feel the need to video and / or photograph the idiot doing it they could reported it to the club or the relevant authorities post match.

The only people who benefit from it being all over socials are the accounts posting it to harvest likes.

Maybe, but we criticised Sheff Weds for not uniting in condeming the Palmer racist fan.
We need to send a message to our fans, respect Bradley's memory and stick two fingers up to Mackams who have had many more fans behave terribly towards JH.
If anyone knows better way than a one off banner to do this then feel free to suggest. Tifo's/banners seem to be the modern way of fans sending out united clear messages on controversial topics, so worth considering by club .

But our support has united in condemning him and have put money into the Bradley Lowry foundation.

I dont think it needs anything else, let the authorities deal with it now

Let me know when so I can miss that game.

Fuck sake.

No, the issue there was the victim blaming.

One moron being racist was not a poor reflection on Sheffield Wednesday fans. Many of them saying, 'but Palmer was winding us up' was.

That's the difference.

A better way is do nothing. Donate, if you like, but doing so other than privately is just performative.

What I don't get, is how did he know exactly when to video the lad showing this photo?? It seems more than a coincidence he was filming in the 10 seconds the lad was showing it. Maybe he should have been watching the game not filming 14 yr olds?

everyone has condemned him

there's a difference between condemning someone and performative calls for over the top "justice".

He's a 14 year old kid.

Support what the Lowery family seem to want in not ruining a kids life,

Fuck whst Sunderland fans think
