The big wigs wanted him to play Michael but Coppolla dug his heels in and insisted on Pacino, didn't work out too badly.

I know the Godfather itself is a classic and he's rightly regarded as being an integral part of it...

But for me he'll always be the bloke from Rollerball.

The first film I saw him in was one from the early 70's called "Freebie and the Bean", with Alan Arkin. Comedy cop film. Liked him from those early days.

It's a little know fact that me and Mrs HH are huge fans of the Godfather Trilogy. This is a canvas poster we have above our living room mantle. (The ones in the frame below are of our crazy daughter doing a skydive in New Zealand!)

Oh no, lead some life and played one of the greatest TV characters ever - RIP.

Not been a good couple of months for the gangster genre.

Heard some funny stories about him on the Talking Sopranos podcast. Always carried his hands up near his chest to defend someone hitting him. One of the funniest scenes of anything I’ve ever watched:

I could quite happily binge "The Sopranos" again! One of my favourite TV shows! Loved James Gandolfini! So sad he passed away so early in life aged just 51

I watched it recently and googled a few of the actors to see what they have been doing since. I Was surprised to see that most of them were still going strong. When I looked, only really Gandolfini and the actor who plays his mum had died.

IMO Tony’s mum is one of the best characters ever. An absolute horror!

Goodfellas was one of my faves when I was growing up.
I watched it again over lockdown with my daughter. I wish De Niro was still getting those sort of roles.
