We need to do something about the right hand side though. They've got two real quality players in Hall and Barnes and we're struggling to keep track of their movement. Maybe Sakamoto?

Yeah I agree. All of their joy is coming down that side. I actually think MVE has done well considering most of the time it’s 2 v 1

[BackRoomRummermill]

If they can keep it composed - Cov have every chance here .Pinnock is putting the boot in and MVE putting in 200%

[Ccfcisparks]

Also good to see MvE looking somewhere close to his best

Yes he has looked better tonight. A few balls have got round the corner into the space behind him and bobby though

Yes he has done

That first half there is alot of good things seen! Hopefully boys push on in the 2nd half batman looks so nervous, run at him cherif

[mmttww]

I wish Asante could pass a ball, but good half.

[Perennial Lurker]

Central midfield is the biggest problem. No control or forward movement from there at all.
We need someone there who can pass the ball forward in a controlled way.
At the minute all they do is an average spoiling game

It’s the sacrifice we make when Rudoni is playing as a second forward

[shmmeee]

Rudoni looking right back

[theskyisthelimit]

BTA is a nice lad but he is so far away from being competent for the Premier League. Just don't see what he brings other than harrying....Sakamoto offers a lot more

EMC looked better the longer the half went on

[Johnnythespider]

We've ridden our lucky at times but Thomas has been immense, we've shown enough to get a second but that last pass/shot has been wayward, hope we can hang on for the 3 points as that will make up for the Hull game

[Cally Fedora]

Negativity here is as inane as it is predictable. We’re not going to boss sides this year. Why is that so difficult to understand? We’re 1 up and well in it

[BackRoomRummermill]

I do think we could see Mfuni on and a back 5 at some point.

instead of who ?

[Perennial Lurker]

Their left hand side is where the danger is coming from

[Sky_Blue_Daz]

Bobby T and Pinnock defending very well can’t do it for a whole game ,
Grimes off for Onyeka emc off for Ghobo

Bobby Thomas for the next England squad

I havent seen anything to suggest Sakamoto has more in this league in particular.

[StrettoBoy]

Bobby Thomas is everywhere!

I’m sure there are two of him on the pitch.

Does he have an identical twin brother?

[Ccfcisparks]

instead of who ?

Take off one of the wingers and have Gboho playing off Simms.

[stupot07]

Great first and last 5 mins. But we have rode our luck.

[Ccfc_Addy]

MVE looks about ready to blow a gasket at BTA

Agree on the ball but defensively he’s above any other winger I think.

[jordan210]

Both BTA and EMC have the same issue they don’t think they try and do everything at a million miles and hour and every time it’s wrong

[theskyisthelimit]

He just works better with MvE than BTA does

[Ccfcisparks]

Im gonna shout his praises again but Pinnock didnt look like his legs had gone in that foot race with Pardo

Who is being negative?

[Mr Panda]

Carragher just compared Bobby to vintage John Terry

[SeaSeeEffCee]

Happy with the scoreline and happy with the last 10 mins. First 30 we looked nervy and were really struggling to keep hold of the ball. Quality on the wings is really killing us going forward though, and standard of delivery from both set pieces and in open play has been so poor.

The difference is standard compared to last year is very apparent. The way that Newcastle pass it around one touch is sensational at times. We’ve got a long way to go get to that level still.

[jto123]

Team talk has to be focused on pushing on not holding on. Keep press going. Don’t hold off Newcastle. They won’t miss enough chance.

I'm as shocked as anyone to see BTA playing for us in the Prem. He is what he is and will never be anything else but I fully see why you'd start him over Sakamoto if those are the only options. Sakamoto might be good for a 20 minute cameo, he may get it or we may just change shape depending on state of play.

[Cov98]

“Bobby Thomas looks like vintage John Terry from 2005” - Jamie Carragher

Big Bob deservedly getting his praise

[procdoc]

Carragher just compared Bobby to vintage John Terry

Quite the praise from JC

I think a lack of Tchaouna and Wright is limiting what we can do.

[Theonlywayisskyblue]

The longer BTA has to think the worse he is

[stevefloyd]

Whenever BTA gets the ball he isn’t even looking to pass it to anyone, he’s just running into blind alleys every time

Whats new? He looks totally lost when they have the ball watch who he picks up or rather who he doesn't

[Sky_Blue_Daz]

He’s been a great signing

[jto123]

We do, I can't help feeling that we look like a lower league side playing a premier league team though.

Agree, but my feeling is that is more mentality than quality.
