I'm confident of a win.

2-1.

Football is highly, highly unpredictable. You only have to look at the likes of Man City on Saturday to see what it's capable of throwing up.

I've been watching the City for far too long and they are quite capable of playing crap one game and really well the next.

I'm confident. Need to select the right 11 though and for us to be in the right state of mind for the game.

Correct the league is capable of throwing up bizarre results even more so at Christmas. That might be all we need to rejuvenate a few during a busy schedule with back to back home games.

It would send a message if he stuck Chaplin and Hiwula properly up front.

Even in the away Charlton game it was movement and half decent passes into the box that got us the goals. Lay it out wide, get in the box and get on the end of it.

Personally I’d leave Thomas on the bench at best. The kid needs a rest and his performance level is dropping earlier and earlier in games. Not his fault but he needs a rest. I’d also try hiwula up top with Chaplin and get grimmer back in. Nobody mentioned just how poor sterling was in the first half in Saturday. It was like Bristol Rovers part 2. He improved 2nd half but it could and should have been too late by then.

He wasn't that bad, there were still many more worse than him.

I disagree Nick. First half both positionally and defending were awful from him. Got beaten with ease every time and jogged back

But he was still better than Chaplin, JCH and Bayliss.

He got doubled up on a fair bit and they were crossing as soon as they could get a ball in from both sides. He was far from being the worst player for us.

If he didn't play in Grimmer's position I think he would get a bit more slack.

I say it ever game, I bore myself, but we need to set up to be offensive, and use the pace and movement we have in the squad. The constant over cautiousness is massively impacting our performances, indivially and as team, and ultimately our league position.

JCH is a waste of a shirt, we can’t keep praying he’s going to have that rare game in which he looks a world beater, as they few and far between.

I’d go:

Burge
Sterling Willis Hyam Brown
Thomas Bayliss Kelly Allessani
Chaplin Hiwula

I don’t believe Allessani is ready, but through a lack of oversight during the summer, we have no other wingers available. Hiwula doesn’t work there (and it’s clearly impacting him) and Shipley isn’t a winger.

Bayliss isn’t having a great season, but equally he can change games, and with some actual movement around and in front of him, it should help improve his performance.

Chaplin and Hiwula have to use their movement to cause issues and drag their defenders around, hopefully creating space for them and our wingers to exploit.

However, I know we’ll set up in a defensive formation with defensive tactics.

I like MR, but he has to improve his tactical awareness and reactiveness in games.

Only thing that worries me is that lightweight midfield Charlton if I remember had some pretty big units.

That team will do for me,as long as JCH is nowhere near the team or the bench.

Whilst I agree with some above, we can't keep losing ... so will fluke a win soon ... whether deserved or undeserved ... it won't be this game, Charlton are on good form, in form strikers, high up in the league, fear another 2 v 1 or 3 v 1 defeat ... but perhaps get something from our next game after that ... I hope ! ! !

Just the type of game we expect fuck all and go on and win and surprise everyone

Coventry City (1459)

Burge
Duj-Hyam-Willis-Brown
Thomas-Doyle-Kelly-Shipley
Hiwula-Chaplin

Horrible team, but not many other options. Ogogo, JCH and Bayliss do not deserve to start. The latter two need to realise they are not immune from being dropped.

Without Thomas we wouldn't score in a month of Sunday's.

Expecting nothing against Charlton, but hoping! We do need to beat Southend, though. and get something against Wycombe. I want 4 points from the next 3 games to steady the ship. Anything more than that and I'll be very happy.

Chaplin to score at least 2.

2 City goals scored by defenders.

2 penalties in the game.

At least 4 changes made to Saturday's line-up.

Burge to save a penalty.

4 goals in the game, all coming in the 2nd half.

Don't see any point in picking a team or tinkering with theoretical formations while Robins sends us out as negatively as he does - it renders personnel and formations irrelevant. Get our creative attacking players receiving the ball in dangerous areas of the pitch and we'll do alright, or continue with Chaplin, Thomas and Bayliss getting the ball 20 yars too deep in the midfield and get battered again.

Aribo out for them. If Lyle Taylor is out, or only half fit, it will even things up a lot.
