Missed it all. How did we play?

I’m amazed how people think performing in friendlies offer any indication at all when the real action starts
No, but I think it does give an opportunity to see the likes of Perry, Raphael, Andrews against better players. Can see there is potential there.

Was a decent workout though and the team look in decent shape.

Midfielder scores goal. Forwards look naff.

But people would still rather splash silly money on a centre half who isn’t worth it. Granted that defence is hardly world class, but it’s still an absurd idea.
No one suggested we shouldn't strengthen up front, we are weak in both boxes.

You do realise we can bring in a CH and a Striker as well dont you? (Doable if we sell MvE for £10m and use the Binks and Gyokeres money)

Positives outweigh the negatives;

Sakamoto, Grimes, Rudoni played well…some lovely balls in from Sakamoto
Torp really up for it when he came on and looked composed
IMO Andrews now takes Eccles’ spot in the squad, looked composed in the centre…I think Eccles needs to now move on for his own benefit; Andrews is just as effective but 7 years younger. We can get a decent fee for Eccles, compared to Allen
Perry looked composed too, I was slated for suggesting he could be the Binks replacement, particularly in League Cup games if we progress a couple of rounds. I still don’t see how he is any worse. FWIW I do still hope we bring in an upgrade on what we currently have!

Simms didn’t really get much to feed from but could have troubled the defence more
BTA I’ve given up on him, when he has time he never picks the right option, Torp was in space for that pathetic attempt
Frustrated with EMC being offside a couple of times

Are you real?

They played a strong team. They put full effort in and were even reduced to diving and play acting. They even started to try and get into our players faces although they chose the wrong ones. They most probably came here expecting a training session and left knowing that they played a game.

A decent centre half, yes. An overpriced one, no.

It can do, eg that season we got walloped 7-2 at home by Benfica which was followed up losing 3-0 to Forest a week later. Tonight's game had a good intensity for a friendly so was a bit more indicative than a common or garden friendly.

The bits I've seen we look sharp. I don't get the constant Simms criticism, his movement is good.

It would help though if he could pass to one of his own players, early in the second half he had an opportunity to play it to, Forgot Who it was, unmarked, if he passe it to his feet he would have been in on Goal, soooooooo poor. 😞

View attachment 44930Wow - that is some result tonight. 6th in La Liga. Thought we looked excellent at times. Add Doyle and a top Striker and we could be autos.
People don't seem to realise what we already have. Most of our players have been together for a fair bit now and know each other well. Yes we need a striker who knows where the back of the net is. Getting bored of saying it but it's very obvious. If we were to only sign 1 more player that would be my choice.

Well done lads. A very good performance against a very good side.
