Oh yes Andy Turner. Knows everything when needed and just copies other people the rest of the time. A political reporter as his day job these days that somehow is also a football reporter.

Lovely bloke. Will do anything to help anyone. But like on here people only see what they want to see. It takes game time for a player to settle in. They have good and bad games. I'm not going to write someone off for not being excellent from the start.
I'm not writing him off. I'm saying he was pretty average in the game he played left back. In fact i've been an advocate of him playing more and having more rotation with Milan. It goes back to Frank not trusting him, and therefore flogged Milan to the point where he's knackered.

I don't rate Dasilva, but swapping him for KKH if we are playing a right footed one the left wing means we lose balance. Whilst Dasilva is out of position a lot, I do think it's mainly tactics. I watched the Charlton highlights and looks where KKH is when we lose possession.

That could be any match over the last month or two. Both full backs caught beyond the ball on the transition. We could play Cafu and Roberto Carlos in this team with these tactics and the results would be the same.

Not wishing to get involved or escalate any argument, but Fernando has been posting on here for nearly 15 years and I have always found him really decent.

Anyway, back to the game. For anyone who watched the Sheff Ufd game last night, how were Oxford? Did they look a poor side, or did they look like they could get something out of the game for large periods?

What should we expect on Saturday we think?

They're obviously fighting for their lives. He interested to know if their heads dropped at all after going behind, or did they keep going?
Some comments on their forum after the game last night:

I think a bigger problem is that we don’t actually create chances for them to miss. It’s been a problem since we got into the championship.

We lose the midfield every game

It feels like we are a shambles

Can Bloomfield have some balls and revert back to his attacking style he had at previous clubs rather than this scared defensive Rowett style s**t. would just like a rational explanation to why we are trying to play 5 at the back when we didn’t have a single player suited to the wing back role available? Added to this, in the two games Bloomfield started with a back four we got two clean sheets. Utterly confusing.

We make it so easy for teams to play against us, regardless of any difference in quality. Hurry the defence and they’ll smash an aimless ball, pack the midfield and they’ll never find a pass, stick tight to the forward and they’ll give away a pointless foul.

Better performance last night, some of the time. Certainly better than under Rowett. Although still not good enough and no way near enough fight.

One thing I’d like us to do is leave 1/2 players up from corners. QPR left 3 and a couple times from our corners they countered us and I think got a shot off on goal from one and gained a corner from another. Rather than have all 11 back and just keep inviting pressure

I'd agree but on recent evidence Wright and Simms are more effective in defending our box than they are attacking the opponent's.

Assuming the normal setup with Onyeka in for Torp I think it would be Esse/EMC, MvE and Saka I’d leave up

he's playing LWB in that game, he is meant to be that far forward

Agreed. Way way too many people here still have such a 1970s-2000s view of the game and are also so naive to think players just go for a fucking walkabout week in week out rather than it being a deliberate considered instruction for the wingbacks to be that high up the pitch.
The personnel aren't the issue, its the instructions and the fact is, they got us to the top of the league, so they cant be all bad. Alot more nuance than just DEFENDERS NEED TO DEFEND GET BEHIND THE BALLLLLLLLLLLLL

we’ve defended like that for the last 3 seasons, we’re not fixing it with 16 games left, just score more goals, and I’m not even sure it’s because wev‘e been worked out away, we Scored the easiest of goals against QPR,,quality cross into the box and Eccles on the back post, simple, then we didn’t do it again,

van Ewijk - Thomas - Kitching - Dasilva

Torp - Grimes

Sakamoto - Rudoni - Esse

Wright

It’s definitely going a tougher game than most are anticipating as always is against Oxford, its a game we should be winning especially at home. But we shouldnt just turn up expecting them to Roll over.

Im uncertain on the fitness of Onyeka and EMC if they are fit they start over Torp and Saka for me, Wright gets the nod over Simms for me, I think KKH will be back on the bench for this one too.

I can see a very back and forth game which starts off cagey with Oxford happy sitting back and coming for a point, but opens up when we score the first goal as Oxford come out at us, think it’ll be an exciting goals fest like the last few games we’ve had against them, Im going 3-2 with Wright, Esse and Thomas to score.

I’m a big Torp fan - always have been as I enjoy watching technical players.

But he can’t start on Saturday, not sure if he’s not fit or lacking confidence, but I can’t watch him hiding for a whole game, again.

I’m a bit worried it’s going to be a frustrating one with them sitting in and us struggling to create chances and them looking dangerous on the break

I would totally mix the team up for this game and I would still expect a victory... I would go with

Mve thomas kitch kkh
Grimes onyeka
Esse rudi emc
Wright

Wouldn't be adverse to drop grimes for Eccles or eithier cb and bring wolf in eithier. Can't keep playing the same players and the same way and expect a different result!
