Is it just me or do you think our ball boys weren't briefed last night? They were particularly awful at getting the ball back to players and looked begrudging to even get off their stalls

I really enjoyed both Leicester and Milwall games. We looked like us again. The winners at the end of both were a great bonus, but I'd have felt buoyed by the performance even if both had finished 1-1. Milwall looked dangerous on the counter but we did deal with it through good defending or goalkeeping.

Confidence restored that we can push on for the autos when I have to admit I was getting nervous over Christmas.

I'd be happy to give him the assist too, that was a top save from Haji.

It's still 2 assists all season (and one from JDS, was it zero last year or one maybe) but that's what EMC needs to do to improve his game, Giles for example has 8, I think. Granted though he does score and his strength in the box is an asset too.

I think JDS plays forward quite well, and gets high up the pitch to support the attacks and give another option, which can be quite useful. My issue with him is defensively, where he is a target for the opposition and a weak link all the time. I don't think people were noticing it as much when we were winning more games before his suspension, but it happens all the time and goals from the opposition come down his side constantly, often from crosses which he cannot stop because he hasn't tackled the opposition, or is miles out of position when a ball gets played over in the first place.

I would like to strengthen that position ideally, but we already have Brau and Bidwell, so I cannot see it happening.

I kind of agree, the fact we keep trying at that position and he's still the best we've got isn't great. Saying that its the one position we've not spent any proper money in. You'd think at least one of Bidwell/Brau would be off in this next week or so.

Alex Neil had this to say about last nights game, a bit of Malcom Tucker-esque spin on the game! Objectively, at 0-0 and 1-1, we had the better of the chances and Esse was unlucky not to score a 2nd. Credit to Millwall, they gave us problems and had a big chance themselves at 1-1 but overall, you can't argue with the end result. I do agree that they were open at 2-1 because they were forcing the issue (exact same as the reverse fixture).

I'd like to see Millwall go up in the playoffs, if they and Boro go up next year, that's 12/40 points to stay up! 😂

Osmajic of Preston is just back from a ten match ban and he gets a straight red for headbutting an opponent off the ball 😆

I have just watched the video replay, which is here starting at 3 minutes 15 seconds:

Nothing like doing it right under the ref's nose!

His disciplinary record is appalling. He was banned for eight games last season for biting an opponent and has only recently returned from a ten match ban for directing racist abuse at an opponent.

It's not the worst headbutt you will ever see but the authorities do take a dim view of such behaviour. I think another lengthy ban looms.

So people keep saying, if they aren't supposed to then why did one of them run to get the ball to throw it to their keeper when they were 2-1 down? Why do ballboys / girls at every away game do it?
Goal kicks are an exception, that’s the only time they’re supposed to give them the ball.

What? Why? If that's the case, what are they even there for?
The ballboys are only supposed to replace loose balls on the cones. Players are supposed to either pick up the loose ball or take one from a cone.

It could all have been so different.

In the 1963/4 season, aged eight, I wrote to Jimmy Hill asking if I could be a ball boy. I got a lovely reply, saying that my name had been put on the waiting list and that he would be in touch when my name reached the top. I'm still waiting and I turn 71 in four weeks time!

I'm generally a patient person but do you think that, after waiting for about 63 years, I should give Doug a nudge?

Osmajic is the most Preston player who ever Prestoned

Your time will come. These things don't just happen straight away, you know.

There’s a reason we’re set up to win the ball high and out score the opposition and not soak up pressure.
To win games?

Are you saying that you would prefer us to sit back and try to defend a 1 goal lead? We're where we are now because of our attacking play. Although some people point out how fragile our defence is we still have one of the best defensive records. Add to this nobody is close to the amount of goals we have scored.

I’m wondering whether we could adopt a less open structure without taking much away from our attacking play.

884 is the only anyone needs to say to them
Wouldn't knock them for that; they've never had massive support, it's a Tuesday night and ages since the last payday. Always prefer to applaud those that make the effort rather than castigate those that don't.

They're in no position to criticise over supporter songs, though. The frankly awful 'MILLLLLLL' (I get this is intended as nothing more than create a wall of noise, but it sounds shit), and the cliched 'no-one likes us' song are the core of their songbook. Lads, no-one cares about you.

We could, but it doesn’t take much for it to become backs to the wall defending.

It isn't so bad getting hit on the break as opposed to having players waiting for the ball in the area like we do. Millwall were very good last night and there won't be many sides we face this season that have the same attacking ability.
