If you offer a contract then you should stick by it. Not the players fault they were offered a contract with bonuses in regardless of league position.

Surely they should offer for future reference a contract which STATES relegation means no bonus.

SISU are cunts yet some on here still think what there doing is best for the club. Well sorry but i don't have that.

I'm still not sure on the legalities of it though with changing contracts mid term. Surely agents, lawyers and the PFA would have been involved to represent the player rights in regards to it?

I can confirm Lynch does have insider news and anything that he says regards the inside of this club should be accepted as true. If you guys continue to question good insider info like this then people like Lynch and CovKingChris will just keep their mouths shut and you'll not know anything until its released in national press.

I don't believe the CKC got this info from his Dad the sky man on the eve of it's release in the national press. Sounds more likely to have come from a more reliable source.

Yes, SISU are c***s yet some on here still think that players are blameless and despite getting us relegated they deserve £1M between them. Well sorry, but I don't think failure should be rewarded

I wonder how much money SISU spent on lawyers to look into the saga? Wouldn't be cheap

But SISU have been in charge while ALL these players signed contracts so only have themselves to blame in offering the said contracts.

Good excuse if we lose tonight though...ah, the poor players were upset about their bonuses.

Surely they should have offered contracts stating no bonus for poor performance (Relegation) Im sure other clubs do/would.

This should have been sorted out weeks ago. The timing is typical Sisu - abysmal. While it is obvious that we need to keep costs down, there are good ways and bad ways of dealing with people who are affected by the cost cutting. Sisu have as usual chosen the bad way; their attitude seems to be 'we'll get what we want regardless of how we get it'.

TF trots out the party line trying to dress it up as rewarding success not failure, but the real motive for this shambolic eve of season row is obvious. It's not about rewarding success, failure or anything else. It's about cutting costs.

Don't agree with that at all. Yes the players are under contract, but those players underperformed.

For years fans have moaned that if the average man on the street underperformed as much as players do, we'd be sacked. This isn't even as bad as that, the club are saying - you underperformed and yet we still paid you bonuses. Now we'd like to re-negotiate your contract so that it never happens again and you are rewarded for success.

No-one is holding a gun to their heads. If they sign then great, if not, then SISU try to offload them.

I don't see the problem and i'm behind the club completely on this one. We all know that it isn't just the players who were at fault last season and SISU need to take responsibility. We could spend the next 5 years pointing fingers, but its time to act and try to make changes to get back to where we were, and it appears thats what SISU are doing.

Short answer is they can't change the contracts unless the players agree to the changes

Imagine the horror and indignation if it were bankers we were discussing. Sisu obviously take blame, but so do the players. No sympathy.

I know exactly what you mean, every player should have watertight contracts which you would have thought SISU would have done to get out of paying them. They should have had relegation clauses and performance related bonuses.

Maybe this is a Waggot / Fisher thing? If all the new players already have this maybe it is something they are trying to do where as Kenneth wasn't as clued up?

I work in a place where pay-cuts have been occurring and the morale is at an all time low.

By the way, i agree regarding players getting far too much but deep down that's not there fault to be paid a high wage for such a privilege.

The club paid out the thick end of £1million in bonuses last season - in a year
when we were relegated. We feel this is not acceptable and had to change. The
players have responded in engaging in mature sit down discussions.'

Good work SISU....another tiny step on the relentless marathon task of making this club "viable"......

....still a very long way to go, but definitely a positive step.

....onward & upward....

My guess (and it's only a guess) is that there were promotion bonuses in the initial contracts. Because these were signed when we were a Championship club, they would have been based on promotion to the riches of the Premier League, and so would have been understandably high.

Now we're in League 1, a high promotion bonus would be far out of proportion with the actual achievement of winning promotion. Since the bonuses would be based on receiving a Premier League income rather than a Championship one, it might even be the case that paying out the previous bonuses would put the club in a really bad state financially.

As I say, just a guess but if that's the case it sounds fairly sensible to me.

As for the legality of it, I assume it's fine. Only like offering a player a new contract midway through their previous deal.

Baker could be well in the Doo Doo after this ,might have been wiser not to name him ,also wonder if this backs up that theory of the Aldershot fullback referring to "US" in that interview where he stayed with them due to the Odd payment scheme on offer at that L1 club?

With this coming to light now it makes it even more obvious that Cranie and Keogh were never going to stay.

Cranie was quoted in his exit interview that he was never staying just thought he would see what they were offering.KD you know they were always going to sell Keogh, sure he went to the highest paycheck but he was for sale in April, all the talk was of the pair staying typical spin, and you're mate was in the thick of it ,ST sales being the motivatoryou know like me they have to raise upto £3m. to get through this season ,who else could they sell and hold an auction for? Be very useful now if somebody could apply this information to the whole wage structure of the club and see where we're at with the waGE. BUDGET.

Clearly SISU should have never let it get to a situation where we were paying out nearly £1m in bonuses in a season we got relegated. In Tim Fishers response, he mentions that people were paid for appearences as opposed to success. So i imagine the majority of bonuses were paid out during the course of the season - so in essence its not a reward for failure, more of a reward for turning up!

But the reality is, we are where we are - we had to make changes to contracts to ensure that didn't happen again, and thats what SISU have done. If this had come out and the story was that the club had done nothing, then i'm sure we'd all be even more angry with SISU for not acting.

Or paying a bonus to a banker after they have to be bailed out by the Governement.

I'd be amazed if it didn't stipulate in the contracts that promotion bonuses only applied to promotion to the PREMIER LEAGUE, because they would be directly related to the increased revenue that promotion would generate.

How is it a disgrace? The club are putting more emphasis on bonuses for winning rather than just turning up. They said that if we have a successful season then players will earn around the same bonuses as they did before. I applaud this as it makes players want to win and acheive rather than go through the motions and potentially cost the club serious money for no reward.

Its interesting but when you look at the bigger picture SISU are to blame for the turmoil OUR club is in. They are now at the stage where they'll cost cut in ANYWAY however this will have a lasting affect on the players including 4 players who are influential to our promotion charge.

Like Freddy @ Forrest, bizzarre that one. This must be afairly standard formula across the leagues ,appearance money making up part of the wage ,part of the £5-6 k. we here quoted so as not to give someone injured or off form their full rate.

And were equally influential in our relegation plunge - and got bonuses for the achievement.

I have no problem whatsoever with the new contracts for new players that makes perfect sense to me - what I object to is the bullying of players on existing contracts - contracts which were put in place under SISU's ownership - it's completely unfair to the individual - if you can agree a new contract with them then fine do it in a constructive way - if not accept that you are bound by the original contract and work with it - same applies to the rent argument
