Matt Hancock has just said on Marr that not locking down earlier didn't cost lives. What a lying bastard.

Thing is, I'm sympathetic to us not doing so... many people would accept a rationale behind it as opposed to a load of empty bluster.

All I want is for them to show some honesty about mistakes they made rather than tie themselves up in knots defending the indefensible.

totally agree. They tie themselves in knots trying to justify or cover up every fuck up they make instead of admitting them and then concentrating on getting it right going forward.

Was a shocking interview. Hancock couldn't say how many people had been traced, couldn't say now many people had been tested and had no idea when the app will be ready.

Surely they are all softball questions that would have been expected.

Didn't do much better when asked how many black people were in the cabinet. Named Sunak and Patel! When he was pulled up on them being asian not black he went with Kwarteng who was removed from the cabinet in the last reshuffle. He bodged the same question on Ridge as well.

I think it's more a case of wouldn't say rather than couldn't say. He will have the numbers etc, but knows the answer will be embarrassing so trots out the usual lines about doing everything they can, unprecedented, follow the science, wait for the statisticians. The new line, to deflect from us having a huge number of deaths, was that it's not about the 40,000 deaths, it's that each one is terrible.

Hancock can't string sentences together, I think we're nearing the point (if we're not at it already) at which there's no point getting him, and others, on to answer questions, as they don't want to answer, and will mislead at every opportunity. We don't learn anything from these interviews.

It would suit them to be able to hide away. Get them on and roast them until they can start telling the truth.

Have news reporters given up with it now too? Reporting from protests in the middle of crowds.

World's gone mad. We are 1 week out of eased lockdown where we are now allowed to meet only 6 people outside yet in cities across the UK there are thousands crammed together. And then there are people on here saying not locking down earlier lost lives. So what about the 1000s marching again today? How under the circumstances is this viewed as now acceptable?

It's madness. Guess people are scared to mention it, same as when the reason was the NHS.

Police can't do anything about it.

You have people like linekar saying it's because of Cummings, almost as if it's ok for thousands to gather because a man went to his second house.

It's all political nonsense. I suggest we all gather when we get promoted for a party.

Problem is if they come outright and stop the gathering they'll be accused of all sorts.

The right to protest is a fundamental part of a democracy.

Without that, we become the police state that I suspect the government feared us becoming, when we hesitated.

It's kind of different in the middle of a pandemic when everybody has been on lockdown for months to stop the spread of a virus.

Cunts like piers Morgan are loving it, throwing fuel on the fire every day.

Again, a couple of months ago people like piers Morgan were making out people will kill their gran if they go for a a beer and now look.

The hypocrisy of it all is amazing, purely just for politics.

Fuck it, I'll be back to football and having beers next weekend.

Even though we are in the middle of a pandemic, I’m all for it with social distancing but there has been none

In most of the protests, there has been.

Those without? People have been stupid.

So surely we shouldn't have ever bothered with a lockdown?

Still, I'm sure when it spreads rapidly again then the media can just try and pin it on something else.

Why not wait until lockdown is over?

Birmingham, Manchester, London, Nottingham, Glasgow.

Big cities, tens of thousands of people in close proximity. Let's not pretend there isn't a massively increased risk.

If there isn't, why have we been forced to stay in for months?

Let's not pretend that in most of the photos, people are socially distancing. The pictures of big crowds make a photo opp but look through the local ones, and see the gap.

Let's also not forget there wouldn't be a need if there wasn't endemic racism and inequality. I'd rather condemn that first, eh.

You know, in a big group, some people will congregate too close. Morons.

All this stuck record takes away from those who want to stand up for their fellow human beings. What's wrong with that? That's better than me, who sits in waiting for his Tesco order and v does fuck all. Not going to have a go at those who've had enough though.

So ignore the tens of thousands of people all close together and look at a minority of people being sensible?

Just like applauding the NHS, it must make people immune if there's a cause behind them gathering.

So again, if people can gather on bridges in their hundreds, gather in their thousands in parks and it's fine, why should people keep their businesses closed now? Why should they stop seeing their family?

did he? I saw him say he understood why they wanted to protest but hoped protesters were social distancing and wearing PPE.

He also tweeted a picture of the Tel Aviv anti corruption protest where they maintained social distancing and said this is how it should be done.

But a couple of months ago I would have hated oaps and wanted to kill them all off if I would have gone to see my mates in the pub? I'd have been selfish etc.

Now by gathering amongst hundreds of others they are standing up for fellow humans? Are they, or are they putting them at risk?
