I don't think the numbers will come in to it, they'll make them fit around the policy.

Yeah, it's been decided for economic and political reasons.

I'd just give up. Some on here just hate the Tories that much I'm convinced they dont want the death rate to decline as it gives them more ammo. Utterly bizarre.

I've maintained all along that we've handled it badly. We did a half arsed herd immunity and then a half arsed lockdown.

I don't think many people can say we've come out of this smelling of roses.

My issues surround more the shady behaviour of other countries which include China and Germany.

- China: As I said, I'm not saying it was a man made virus, but I don't believe their figures and I certainly don't believe they tried hard to stop it spreading to the rest of the world. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are some dodgy goings on. They could have contained it pretty much in their own country.

- Germany: The correlation of deaths to cases is completely off the charts compared to pretty much any other country on the entire planet. Yet they don't seem to have many questions asked.

- Sweden: Behaved worse than we did, but on a global stage get far less stick than we do.

The whole thing is bizarre and you would think there would be some common ground between countries and sharing of information etc. Instead there is all kinds of secrecy and double standards going on. We should have been well prepared for this, and in fact we were well aware of what could happen thanks to other previous virus outbreaks. Just no one reacted. Why?

Are you seriously asking why citizens of the U.K. are complaining about the U.K. government response over the Swedish, German, or Chinese?

£1,000 fine for visitors from countries with no or barely any infections who don't quarantine, but some of those countries are offering to let us visit

We will need to loosen it, we need to learn to live with the virus or else there will be no jobs or money left, we need to find a safe balance

Dominic lets not run away from answering why you repeatedly say more people are being tested when the dhsc own figures show this is not true

we probably will now. We can't keep the country shut and borrowing for furlough money and hand outs to the self employed.
We blew our chance at emulating what other countries have done. Lets hope for a miracle.

A dangerous second peak would be more economically damaging than extending the restrictions.

It's bonkers on both accounts though one is at least driven by economic necessity instead of arrogance

I think Covtarian has a blood lust. White people in care homes, children in boats. He don’t care so long as people are needlessly dying.

yeah, and could potentially put the NHS under the sort of pressure everyone was worried about at the start of the outbreak. But I don't think we've left ourselves with any option than to take a risk.
There was even someone from the Daily Mail on the radio earlier who refused to defend the part time PMs handling of the crisis. That just shows how bad it is.

No, I said across the world the UK gets worse press than Sweden on this.

Seriously question - how do you monitor the worlds press?
Sweden moved to the top of the per capita death rates this week and it was quite widely reported in publications I've looked at.

Obviously 0 but I can’t see how that is possible, I wouldn’t really like to put a number on it.... maybe similar to what spain and Italy are on?

I have genuinely found this weeks figures a bit depressing. I honestly expected them to be better than they have been.

You're falling into a trap here, the furlough money and support for self employed is the only thing keeping the economy going as there is and still will be limited demand otherwise.

I would hope for at least something below 100. Though Greece with its busted economy is at practically 0 already

I've read so many articles blasting the UK, mainly because I've got many friends (In Czech Republic, Germany, Russia, Spain, Netherlands, and Turkey to name a few) that have regularly been in touch asking what on earth is going on.

Quite a bit of the media I've seen is actively mocking us and they include articles about tory politicians that aren't even Boris.

Compare that with Sweden, and whilst I have seen critical articles, it is nowhere near on the scale than what we have had.

The U.K. has done a worse job than Sweden so far AFAIK. But Sweden’s had loads of criticism for relying on people to distance themselves and not forcing lockdown.
