Where to start with that. Takes the armchair science punditry on here to a different level. Where was that published, the Beano?

Anyone who thinks that Boris, or anyone in an elected position, is driving this position is delusional.

The policy may be right, it may not be, but if it isn't you have to question the scientific advice.

You are seriously living in fucking dreamland if you think that- people like Cummings (a man who has written articles calling for social darwinism), and Johnson (who hired someone who saw children dying as "acceptable" if it meant being able to test a new drug) are driving this, and it encapsulates their approach to life in general. They are about eugenics, "science", stone cold darwinism and thats why they are taking this 'scientific' approach as opposed to a medical approach.

If it isn't right then you question the choice of selecting the scientific approach in the first place as opposed to a medical approach, and thats down to the people in charge.

The Guardian, but despite it's myriad faults, less comic like than most.

Sad, pissed off but was bound to happen sooner rather than later, if this season becomes void albeit very unlikely I will probably be done with football for a while , health is more important though especially for people like my grandparents and others over 70.

As previous, look at all of the contradictory viewpoints, also from respected scientists. This, “you’re not an expert so shouldn’t comment” is a patently farcical argument when there are so many other theories from equally respected scientists, on offer.

Of course, if you’re coming at it from a position of thinking that it’s either trivial, and/or are a bit upset that we’re going to miss some footy, then obviously you’ll accept the outlier position put forward by this government without further analysis.

That’s entirely your choice, but don’t kid yourself that there’s only one rational science-based position to take here, because that’s simply not true.

No it was the argument put asking what someones qualifications were to disagree with another public health doctor.

Do you think they’ll never die? I’ve been reflecting and think I’d be sad if my mum died but she’s 79 and the reality is that she will die of something. Are we expecting too much? I don’t know

Possibly to most paranoid and delusional post I have ever read on here - deserves it own youtube channel with a Planet X graphic. It was only a matter of time before jokers started trying to politicise this. If there was any shred of truth in the notion that they are somehow deliberately trying to 'sacrifice' a section of society and are planning on allowing the weak and old to die then it would be, at the very least, political suicide; when the alternative, if we subscribe to the other scientific argument, is to close a few football grounds.

The CMO looked completely at ease and comfortable when he was given the platform yesterday. If you want to suggest coercion or that string-pulling from your pet baddie is behind all this, then go ahead, but I'll call it what it is, absolute fucking bollocks with a cherry on top.

I do agree though I could share with you something on Cummings when he was at my place at the Department of Education and which would suggest that the man is simply reckless, and that once he gets fixated on an idea then all side issues such as citizens privacy and confidentiality go out of the window. Add in the fact that the guy is an absolute shitster then you have some idea of how dangerous he is. Everything wrong and bad about him that you may have read is true.

You need to calm down. It is what it is, and the people (yes, they are politicians despite your best protestations otherwise) making the decision to go down the route of science as opposed to medicine are firmly rooted in eugenics & darwinism. You can squeal as much as you like, that is the bottom line, it is unarguable. You clearly have google as you're able to reproduce & fawn over every word that is said by the 'experts', perhaps try broadening your outlook and also google the views & philosophies of the people who chose to take this approach, it will all make sense to you then.

My mother has already passed, and my grandparents are the healthiest people I've met, grandad can run circles around me , but yes I wouldn't be happy to hear they are positive for the virus so I've distanced myself from them for the mean time but they are devastated as they enjoy the footy it's there escape from Saturdays.

I also agree that nobody is saying they are trying to kill people. The fundamental values and approach by "ultra darwinist" Cummings is the dangerous element.

No matter what your view of him, the idea that they are somehow sitting in a hollowed-out volcano working out a strategy to use this virus as a tool to somehow kill off a sizeable number of the very people who put them into power - pulling along with them eminent scientists and doctors, well, it doesn't deserve a response. We're not living in a Bond movie. At that Cobra meeting yesterday, the mood would have been sombre and serious and the aim to devise a strategy to minimise the spread and associated deaths. If it wasn't, Sturgeon would have been shouting her dissent from the rooftop. It's a batshit theory. You can argue they've got the strategy wrong, but it won't be because they're all feeling a bit homicidal.

Googled what? What words have I fawned over exactly, other than to repeat the general thrust of their position which has been widely reported. Did you watch the press conference yesterday? I get their position, but as I have said repeatedly on this thread, I have no idea if it is the right call, and neither do you.
The issue I have is with the conspiratorial nonsense and with the suggestion that Cummings is the master puppeteer in all of this. I don't buy it for one second, but if you do, well fine, we'll leave it at that.
