It would take a spike like italy to knock the NHS on its arse but that is why the plan is to flatten the peak meaning while it maybe around for longer it doesn't all happen at once.
They will have no choice but to cancel any non-urgent treatment - Firstly to allow all available resources to be diverted to treating the virus, and secondly to protect their own staff - imagine the situation if they needlessly endangered doctors and nurses...My worry is trestment for other stuff on nhs. Wikl they turn around and say sorry no more till we sort corona. We need all hands on deck etc

Watch her question session on the iplayer. It's quite informative.No evidence but it could happen, as boris said up to 80% could get it!!

You will see a steep rise in cases which is inevitable as it is a new pathogen and no one has any immunity but we seem well placed to flatten the peak.
