Why do you keep saying he never shook hands? He said himself he did. Or do you think it's another of his lies?

Boris says he did
Grendel says he didn't
The saddest thing is that ONE of them is right

You're just talking shit now. It's quite funny.

Apparently I'm an awful c**t for saying Boris should take it on the chin but you're fine to say Operation Last Gasp is funny, while thousands of people die, many because they can't get a ventilator.

What the hell is wrong with you?

You are not right in the head.

Spot on sick boy. I haven’t seen the actual ICU numbers but I believe we remain under the capacity limits which is essential. Hoping the numbers might be on the dataset slides

Dom - Unfortunately I’m not sure todays data is complete regarding the tests and therefore confirmed numbers (excludes Leeds and Manchester). Assuming they aren’t unusually high the number it is still positive though as it’s not showing a significant jump

As per exchange with Sick boy/Dom, if anyone’s interested, checked the dataset supporting info and as at 6 April 5,872 critical care bed were in use across the UK (4,810 - England, 369 - Wales, 585 - Scotland and 108 - NI). Been creeping up from 5,000 since 31 March.

Ps ...and no, I don’t know if Johnson’s included in the figure !

You’re averaging a Sunday and a Monday tho, and if we’re right about Sunday’s being low that’ll drag the average down.

I wonder if week on week growth isn’t the best indicator but last Tuesdays were about half today’s IIRC.

As always let’s see where we are the rest of the week. If we fail to break 800 we’re doing well.
I'm assuming that if a Sunday figure is low, then the Monday figure will to some extent be higher than it should be as there will be a spill over. But the media are saying we are doubling every 3 days, I just can't see that. Even taking today's figures being double last Tuesday's that is a much better scenario. Including today's (possibly outlying) figures, we have gone from 563 to 786 in 7 days

They won't bring it up themselves directly but they will feed it out, whether its true or not doesn't matter, we saw that in the last election.

Its already happening, take a look on social media on any post mentioning Starmer. Just gets people bringing up Saville in response.

The level of political debate in this country is appalling and shows no sign of improving.

No they won't as it would be detrimental to them as they seemingly allowed him to do what he did

Nothing wrong with shaking hands with someone who has COVID -19 as long as you don't pick your nose and suck your fingers before you wash your hands.

Doesn't matter in this day and age. As long as you can get it repeated often enough and enough people believing it whether it's bollocks is irrelevant. Didn't matter at the last election or the referendum.

Only reason they would chose to ignore it is because of Saville's links to the Thatcher regime and mentioning him could bring that up.

Im guessing it’s the former. He shouldn’t have said it, probably didn’t mean for it be taken literally and I’d imagine regretted it immediately after the briefing (as i bet he did when he mentioned seeing his mum on Mother’s Day - which was followed by a statement saying he wouldn’t be seeing her)

It’s live situation, reacting to questions, he’s hardly polished in those situations (like a Cameron or a Blair) and he said the wrong thing.

Maybe. He does seem to think more like a comedian than a politician in that respect, looking for the quick remark and entertaining the crowd rather than if it's a sensible thing for someone in his position to say.

Yes that is exactly why it will not be brought up, you are not going bring up something that is easily disproved but can easily open up your own links to a child abuser

They recon that it will live on hair for hours and we all know Boris is always touching his hair. Even if he had washed his hands it’s very likely it was swiftly back on his hands. Not sure if he picks his nose and eats it though.

100%. Im not saying its right either, but I think that’s just him (and why he’s always got a fuck up or two in him but also appears to be able to engage with people and is likeable by all accounts)

Just call me Captain Cheery bringing all the good news:

What’s interesting here is the data is basically time lagged by three or four days. Not undercounting so much as late counting. Means we’ll probably stay in lockdown slightly too long if anything.

A good mate of mine who lives in Liverpool sadly lost his wife last Tuesday, she was only 49 but
Had been battling cancer for 3 years, she’d been well since Christmas but developed respiratory
Problems 2 weeks ago and went downhill very quickly, she wasn’t tested.
Then on Friday her Mother 74 was admitted to hospital with severe chest pains and shortness of
Breath, she apparently was sprightly and active ‘though she had been diagnosed last year with
COPD, she sadly passed last night, she also wasn’t tested.
Then as if that wasn’t enough her Father 72 was admitted to the same hospital this afternoon
‘again with chest Pains and fever and shortness of breath, apparently not looking good but not
been tested.
Bloody heartbreaking.

As was the clap for the NHS imo, give them the tools to do their job and the necessary
Protective wear to carry it out safely, yes they are un-sung heroes and yes they deserve
More recognition and much better reward for what they do.
But I’m really not sure what clapping them once a week is supposed to achieve TBH

Its about togetherness, community sprit and solidarity with our NHS workers. I agree they need all the stuff you highlight. But that should be a given and is not directly related to clapping.
If the NHS saff that are on the front line of this take some motivation and pride from the nation's appreciation I will do it every week for 1 minuet.
