What else have they done wrong? We locked down..... No Government could have predicted this happening
Not to single you out as I've seen similar comments all over social media but this hasn't come out of nowhere.

There's been warnings for literally years about this kind of thing happening. There's even reports viewable online into the changes made to the NHS under the 2012 Health and Social Care Act which explicitly state the changes being made will leave us unable to cope with exactly what is happening now. As far back as 2009 there's a Department of Health report which states that in the event of a pandemic “there may be ten times as many patients requiring mechanical ventilatory support as the number of beds available”.

There's multiple news articles, documentaries etc that highlight the potential for a pandemic wiping out huge numbers. The governments own National Risk Register highlights a pandemic as having the same likelihood of occurring as severe weather (its actually listed as more likely than things like flooding or an outbreak of something similar to foot and mouth), the register also highlights it as the risk that would have by far the biggest impact.

All points to this being something the government knew was going to happen, just a case of when rather than if.

There’s strong hints that the US government were warned around the same time that they were overdue for a pandemic disease going on the patterns of the past. Then in 2018 Trump sacked pandemic disease specialists in the belief it wouldn’t happen during his term.

We knew we were due and proceeded to underfund the NHS and broader society for a decade. Now reaping a whirlwind

To say that "nobody could have prepared for this" is errant and wilful nonsense. And that includes the former Labour govt too, they were in the hotseat for SARS & Swine Flu.

We have downgraded Coronavirus from being a HCID, we don't even see it as being in the highest risk category of pandemics, in medical terms COVID is Championship standard, so you can imagine what would happen if a Premier League virus got loose. And even with it being the lower level risk, look what its done to us. Its jaw-droppingly stupid to have done nothing for years apart from strip down the NHS, and criminally negligent to again do nothing even months after the advice & warnings came in January. Its not even a matter of "if" this happens, it "will" happen, and it will keep happening.

Here's the "most wanted" list if you like of infectious diseases, this virus- that has essentially stopped all of the human race in its tracks- not even at the top table.
High consequence infectious diseases (HCID)

How Dave with freedom of movement across Europe and open borders would you have controlled it? The EU has a pandemic committee which folded as every country adopted its own strategies

We are still part of Europe and how can it have been controlled?

They are trying to keep deaths low until the virus goes away seasonally or a treatment arrives

...which, as far as plans go.....is lifted stright out of the "wing & a prayer" play book....

They are trying to keep moral up and that’s all they have to offer

Yep....The whole world has rushed down this blind alley to hide from the virus.......what happens next?

People are getting angry.....They're gonna need to make the most of this lockdown cos I can see any future attempts being ignored en masse...

Yep because it’s now over to the ‘so called scientists’ and ‘so called experts’ to develop treatments and quick testing kits. I’d be one of them had any jobs been going when I graduated

I think that keeping hundreds of thousands of people alive as opposed to having them die might count as "making the most of it".

When do you think it could be G? By looking at Spain and Italy it looks like they are right at the peak

Have you seen my link in Italy? They havent a clue about the death toll

The world doesn’t have freedom of movement and the worlds got it. Freedom of movement is just another of your tin hat, tin pot theories. You’re talking bollocks as usual while ignoring the facts Dave has made.

Indeed.....and there appeared to be no real immediate alternative action......just expressing my bewilderment at the fact the the whole world is stumped as to how to move forward....

When you've got every single thing wrong from day one, you don't really have anywhere to go apart from trying to deflect by making out that all the info coming from every country in the world is false and made up, thus pretending that you weren't actually wrong but its the data that was wrong, same old gameplan really.

So now you are dismissing the Financial Times article but keep posting a graph from a Financial Times correspondent- and still no answers to the questions posed

Whr to you believe the FT article is false? I know you will not answer but I will try
