Canada too IIRC. Lots of silly nationalism going around. We have some of the blame of course by insisting it’s branded the Oxford vaccine.

Should have called it the Independent UK vaccine. That would have gone down well

First to vaccinate and first to party, Israel now mulls lockdowns

One of the most vaccinated nations in the world is a test case for how Delta will play out. So far, it’s not pretty
www.ft.com

Really interesting (and worrying!) story on how Israel is doing. The first country to vaccinate en masse is now seeing the vaccine’s efficacy fade for the most vulnerable people who got it first. Health officials now worried about a surge in hospitalisations, and the fear is that there may be new restrictions. If regular booster shots are the only answer then we could be doing this dance for years.

Current Coronavirus mindset:
It more or less might as well not exist.

I'm wearing masks less and less in shops. Football is back with crowds. Trudging back in to work every day.

It still nags at my brain in the background though every now and again and brings my mood down.

How is everyone else feeling about it?

I think whats happened was inevitable.

People have spent 18 months wearing masks, working solitary, missing out on family, friends, holidays, hobbies, distancing when seeing people etc.

Follow that up with going to get jabbed twice, all of this by the way being asked of us to protect people...

Its natural human behaviour and response. We've done what was asked, the danger has receeded hugely (though unfortunately will never go away), and human nature has just took us to as near normality (bar foreign travel and isolating) that we can get in my view

The danger hasn’t hugely receded as it’s a global pandemic.

Massive issue last 2 weeks for me and my family. I think it’s great the vaccine has reduced the seriousness but we need to be cautiously optimistic

Yeah, I get that. Not trying to downplay anything. Just sharing my thoughts at the moment. Are people on the road to recovery in your family?

Think they have around 35 M shots of Pfizer available and have ordered the same for next year , I'd assume they will go for over 50's again.

Similar actually, last two weekends at the football it's been business as usual. It's only the working from home left now but that's likely a permanent fixture

Still waiting with some anxiety about how school will operate. Desperate to be allowed to resume practical work, be able to move around the classroom and not keep moving between random rooms

I'm presuming it will be business as usual for schools, just going off the current feeling.

As do I, but I hope they stand firm even when hospitalisations go back up in winter.

Until it’s safe globally the danger hasn’t majorly receded - the western mindset on it is too focused internally.
