It's a matter of personal opinion Nick so you don't have to agree with me. But Portsmouth have had our pants down for two weeks now and have clearly dictated proceedings. At the end of the day that's football as in most cases clubs in the lower reaches of the EFL have to wait on their primary targets. But my issue is, why didn't Robins have a more realistic target lined up in the first place? Furthermore, why is it that Portsmouth have the sense to hold out on the Chaplin sale until a replacement is brought in, yet we could barely hold out for a week on the McNulty scenario. Yes, agents can accelerate and engineer a move but they can't break a contract. Again that's football but it seems like a never ending conveyer belt of deja vu for us.

Robins has been fantastic in the window so far but this time I think he's made a mistake, which will become clear if we fail to sign Chaplin. But I reiterate, great if we get Chaplin, but either way MR would do well not to make a repeat of this as it's far too risky reckless for my liking, especially because of the situation we currently find ourselves in - without a goalscoring striker.
Couldn’t agree more.

I think
Portsmouth would let him go tomorrow if we offered more money wouldn't they?

Like I said, they are the ones giving updates twice a day to the media.

It's not robins in the paper every day
I am certain Portsmouth will sell or will they risk losing him for nothing in a year. I think like us they are a bit hand to mouth with their finances.

They aren't the ones who have sold their top scorer with no replacement lined up.

Chaplin won’t be the only fish in the sea, be patient
It's been two weeks. There are only two weeks of pre-season left/the transfer window left and three friendlies. We all saw how long it took McNulty to get going and that was with a full pre-season behind him. Whoever we bring in isn't going to have that, at least not with our squad, and we'll be playing catch up in that regard. And considering we're replacing over 40% of our goals from last season it's pretty damn important that the player is up to scratch.

Adam Armstrong. He did not have much of a pre season with us and banged the goals in from day one.

What do you think he has been doing at Portsmouth the last month, sitting on his arse
He has had a full pre season and has featured in Portsmouth matches
I agree would be better if he was at Ryton but fitness will not be an issue.

I am not sure if it has been mentioned and i can't be arsed to troll through the previous 22 pages to find out,but i have a feeling we are going to miss out on this Chaplin guy either through the fact Portsmouth won't get a replacement in and decide to keep him,or another club comes in an offers a bit more than what we have and steal our man,i hope i am wrong on both counts and we do get him the sooner the better, but MR needs to get his finger out and fast.

I know I’m repeating myself but the hysteria on here is insane from some. No one at the club has confirmed any interest in the guy have they,

Robins missed out on multiple striker targets last summer. Most notable one being James Collins. Have faith in him finding a suitable replacement.

Well I’m probably in the minority, but I think the 3 lads we have at the moment will do okay. Jodi back soon, goals and creativity, andreu is back now, I’m hopeful of goals and definitely got creativity. Young Reece I’m excited about. Yes we need an out and out striker but I’m not panicking. Are we after Chaplin? dont know tbh ccfc have never confirmed it. We missed out on ched Evans, I didn’t even know we was in for him!! We don’t do public buying. So if we buy great, if we don’t I’m sure we will do okay

What the fuck is your problem mate?
You are coming across as some kind of twat.
His 'problem' is the use of bad grammar by some posters.

I wouldn't say he was a twat, just an extremely weird individual.

In fairness he could have a lot more appropriate targets when it comes to grammar than me.

I guess what else can you bring to a debate when you have nothing reasonable to add? It isn't the first time.

The shocking standard of grammar in some posts. Don't think there's any need to be quite so aggressive.

It’s a football forum, not an English grammar forum, if you want the latter I suggest you search google for one, your becoming fucking annoying.

My problem is the user name itself: its mystery.

It's a mystery. It's not knowing whether it's a huge eagle that has its buzzard in its talons. Or could it be a red kite? Or is just Itsabuzzard flying a kite? And is the 'its' in an Itsabuzzard really an 'it's'? Or was this key striker just born on a bad keyboard day.

Then again I'd like it to be an impenetrable anagram that only Otis could solve.

But all that really matters is that we sign Itsabuzzard as soon as possible, and he's even better than McNulty was, and even better than Conor Chaplin ever promised to be!

Not a bad shout, Although he may be a bit old for Robbins to be interested in.
