I'll be happy for Wilder to go and for us to bring in someone who plays attacking football, none of this holding on to a 1-0 lead at home bull shit, and who is not an ex player.

:thinking about:

Why? So when a "big name" leaves and is replaced by an unknown gates decline - even when results improve?

Crowds have already dropped over 5,000 versus last year's average.

I'd love a 433 attacking formation if it means us scoring 2+ goals a game more often than not...

I am saying whoever is manager will see an upturn in attendances if games are won. You said appointing Wilder will decline attendances. No evidence exists to support the claim.

It's hardly an appointment to inspire the stay away fans to go back up is it. I thought we needed an experianced manager to get us out of this league. Wise all day long for me. Just another cheap option for me. Before all the do-gooders get on my back, sure ill back him,but i hope these rumours aren't true.

You could argue Wilder has more relevant and certainly recent success. Wise being liked has more to do with association than anything else.

If hes appointed i wish him all the best. It seems a massive gamble to recruite a non league manager. Has he ever managed a league club? As i know nothing about him i dont have a clue.

12 managers in 12 years.
I've got to the point where I don't really care who the new manager is.
Pavlovian conditioning has seen to it that I am expecting continued failure.

Still enjoying it though, looking forward to the JPT tomorrow.

Good luck to this bloke I'd be happy to see him have a go but god help him.

Oxford are a league club. So he's currently managing a league club!

who do we want as manager next season ?

might as well start that now, as we know its coming..

Personally, I'd go for Atkins....

He was poorly treated at Southampton after losing 6 of the 1st 10 premier League games, and his stint at Blackburn was destined for failure at the start. Atkins for me.

Then I'd go for Chris Sutton in the 2014/15 season

Who are currently 3rd in the division below us and would have top had they not lost at the weekend.

Hardly awful. The way some on here are talking about him you'd think we'd appointed the manage of Cov Sphinx.

I don't mind seeing this Chris Wilder managing Coventry. Good record, likes 4-3-3 attacking formation, hasn't had much to spend at Oxford United. The fans seem to like him and would be gutted to see him leave.

Are the calls for Wise purely because he played well for us on loan and appears to be a bit of a geezer who takes no nonsense or is there more to it?

I only ask because aside from the FA Cup final and then the weird cockney mafia thing at Newcastle I've not really been aware of what he's done otherwise.

Whereas we were all aware of Chris Wilder's achievements in the game.

Living in Oxfordshire I get to see Oxford play a few times a year and know all about Mr Wilder. Personally I would prefer him not to get the job although it's looking more likely. 433 is his regimented way of playing and his tactical nouse is pretty poor. He has however done well with a club that was going nowhere and turned them into league 2 contenders, with next to no funds. He also has them defending well and conceeding very few goals. If he does come I wouldn't have thought he'll bring any players with him as not many are good enough for the step up.

Regarding Wise, it seems to be a fairly common opinion that Poyet was the main brains behind the success at Swindon and Leeds...

That would work better if we weren't in a thread where people detail why they'd like Wilder as manager.

Millwall didn't play one PL team in their route to the FA Cup final, and people like to forget that he got relegated with Leeds with a team full of experience and not bad quality.

Yeah but you seem to be forgetting that Leeds were a club in serious financial trouble with no money to spend and their very existence was under threat.................. oh!

Probably because as the CT says, 'we are preparing to make an approach for him.'

Don't forget Leeds were deducted 10 points that season in the Championship which in affect relegated them. Wise left Leeds in 3rd place despite them being deducted a further 15 points that season in League One.

If they hadn't got that deduction they still would've went down, unless they beat Hull* by 9 goals...

*might have been Derby, besides, on they the last day they would've had to win by 9 goals

Wise is a manager with potential and unfinished business after the debacle at Newcastle. He will have drive and determination to take the club forward, I'd rather take a chance on wise than wilder

No, but that fits in with everyone saying he's the man but there being no approach yet.

My worry with Wilder, or any manager that isn't Dennis Wise for that matter is how much time the fans will give him. Look at the facts of this league - it usually takes teams two or three seasons to return. Some fans seem to think we have a god given right to the top spot. I really fear that if this doesn't go to plan, the revolving door will spin again and were back to where we started. Some consistency, even some fans don't like it, is desperatly needed. The drive for instant success has ruined this club.
