I just checked it's 8 open play goals and 11 pens

That's an awful return at that level for the money they spent no matter how you try and spin it

He can't control that. It's bizarre that's the point you're pushing. His numbers last season also aren't really that awful and you can't just discount pens to suit your argument.

The season prior in the Championship he scored 13 goals in open play.

If you spent 15m on a player and he returned 8 open play goals in league 1 would you be impressed?

They massively overspent on him it's not bizarre it's fact. 13 goals in the championship is still not worth what they spent either.

From Birmingham's current crop, I only see Doyle as a player that gets into any of us, Ipswich, Saints, Leicester and Sheffield Utd teams. With not many of them getting into the teams below like a Norwich, Watford or West Brom.

As a football fan, I'd love to see the Brum derby back in the PL, but I just don't see the team as close to good enough at the minute. They need 4 or 5 big signings to be up there still imo.

Blues will go straight up

Can't see it at all myself. Yes they broke the record points but they are hoping for several signings to gel quickly. They also need players to jump from League 1 to the Championship. To go straight up they need to be better than Southampton and Ipswich. We're in good shape. Sheffield United shouldn't be too bad either.

Wasn't it 10 open league goals from open play?

They certainly overspent, but once again, as a player he can't control the fee that's spent on him.

I'm not saying he shouldn't have done better last season that's undeniable, and I've already pointed to his drop off in form at the back end of the campaign, but scratching off goals (he scored another 5 from open play last season in cup comps for both Fulham and Brum) as well as penalties is a feeble way to prove a point to be honest.

He's a decent player and is still relatively young so has plenty of room to develop. If you don't agree, I don't particularly care.

19 goals, of which 10 were penalties.
