All the hotels are rubbish in Coventry and there isn't much to choose from. Then again I see no reason why there would be a demand for hotel accommodation in the city.

I can assure you the Village, the Ramada, and the Royal Court are all decent hotels.

When exhibitions are on people need hotel rooms. when concerts are on people need hotel rooms.

Event tickets could be sold as packages with rooms.

Plenty of decent hotels in and around Coventry, look here http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotels-g186403-Coventry_Warwickshire_England-Hotels.html

Perhaps to you. Personally it's 5 stars or nothing.

Yes, and there is demand for hotels.

That is met by the existing provision. There have been planning apps for hotels at the Ricoh in the past. Why has nothing materialised?

Beg to differ, the Royal Court is an absolute hole. Appalling. Ramada is ok mind.

Where would they find the artists to sustain one concert per month then?

Have a look at ticketmaster and take wild guess.

Would this be in the stadium or hall?

Both depending on the artist like now

Where is the demand for a decent hotel? Who would want to stay nearby? Who would come up with the capital to build it?

ACL have already sated they are losing bids in exhibitions due to not enough hotel rooms for conferences.

Also put in packages for the gigs

It 30 degrees outside by the way.

The Ricoh hotel has a fair bit of use when conferences/concerts/miscellaneous events are held there though surely?

Yes and they are missing out in exhibitions because they don't have enough rooms

We are spending £3 million in opening 38 more bedrooms to our on-site hotel in January to take the total number to 121 as well as installing a new hotel booking service.

“To create further event space we are also adding sliding glass doors to the Legends Lounge suite to add more conference and exhibition space which is another significant investment.

“The opening of the train station at the Ricoh Arena towards the end of next year is another positive factor when we are hosting large-scale events, conferences and exhibitions so there are plenty of projects to highlight.

“EIBTM is mainly appointment driven so Laurie and I will have the opportunity to promote the fantastic B2B facilities that we offer to leading representatives from across the globe as well as at a welcome dinner and various networking events.

“The Ricoh Arena has become a flagship venue in the Midlands for conference and exhibition organisers as well as delegates because of our state-of-the-art facilities, location and flexibility

I have had several meetings and seminars at the Ricoh and it is an awful venue. Rooms are not suitable, catering is similar to a working mans club and if you have a meeting of 8 or under they shove you in a bedroom in which you can hardly move.

They hardly use any of the space already available and it's rubbish.

They seem to be struggling on the conference front.....

The rise in the number of conferences we are attracting is underlined by the fact we held 400 conferences in the first quarter of the year and we are confident this segment of our business will increase by over 20 per cent this year," he added.

Sales and marketing. We get subsidised rooms so sometimes use it. It's wierd. Long corridors no staff poor service. It's really third rate for businesses.

Does anyone ever stop in the hotel? Why anyone would defeats me. It's soulless and poor catering.

I was in one of those bedrooms for the last three games.

At one point there was 8 people in there around the board table. It was more than sufficient room.

With the added advantage of ensuite

Think I recall Micky Adams putting potential signings up in there for a night to encourage them to sign. Makes sense that we only enticed Kyle.

And last night a Coventry City FC spokesman revealed: “Happily, we are now talking with ACL. It is clear that this is what the fans want us all to do.

So which is it. They are not conducting talks in the media as that is what we want them to do.

Or is it the talks themselves.

As in all honesty if they are doing what the majority of the fans want. They should accept the 400k offer.

The CET are quoting a club spokesman.

SISU dont like it in the media as they always come off bad. TF started putting it in the media suggesting ACL were going bust

If they really wanted to do what most of the fans want ( of course not Torch or Cyril) they would FECK OFF

I cant help the nagging doubt that nothing has really changed.

Seppala has a reputation for playing hard ball, and will take this to the wire. In reality there has been nothing much happen to change her plan and objective. Certainly do not buy into the notion that she has listened to the fans and is prepared to soften her stance. Why would she when she knew all along ACL would have to take action, that hasnt been a surprise to her...... it wont have changed her approach, it is what she has engineered after all. So would she be prepared to compromise her position and settle the matter now ? 11th hour deal maybe, but I suspect there is some stuff going on in the background we are not party to that she feels gives her the advantage

I would expect that attitudes have hardened at ACL, Council & Charity against SISU (not CCFC). Probably a greater sense of unity between the three than ever.

Who will blink first if at all ?

Also because of the Xmas break I wouldnt expect action on Boxing Day it is more likely to be 2nd january. There is still a very real chance of a winding up order.

Hopefully I am wrong, but right now it doesnt feel like it to me. There are going to be a lot of bumps in the road yet. Sorry for not being very optimistic

Fully agree OSB, and if it does happen they will say " We were happy to talk but ACL wouldn't budge and so it is all ACL's fault"

If SHITSU get the ground you can bet your bottom dollar they would charge CCFC 2mil a year.

a couple of questions?

1:How much is CCFC worth to a potential investor without owning there own ground?
2:How much is CCFC worth to a potential investor if the owner of the club owned the ground?

ACL are being more than fair. 67% reduction in rent, 10 years to pay off our debt, plus a large chunk of matchday revenue. Why the hell aren't SISU accepting? Just accept the deal so we can go back to normal and focus on what really matters; Football

"a couple of questions?

not a lot in both cases .......... because it wont be the club owning the ground, it wouldnt make much sense directly linking the clubs losses to the ground - which is why SISU want 100% not 50% of ACL
