I assumed he meant when his Wigan loan spell failed and there was talk he was coming back here?

Just as a point of order. A fair few have stated that Bright "flopped" in Greece and India.

He didn't. He played 12 mins in Greece and scored. He played 12 games in India and scored 3. Their best player on show. Now, I know neither stat is a glowing reference but he didn't "flop" at either of those teams.

Totally open minded on this, Will be pleasantly surprised if it happens but should it if Mark Robins thinks there’s a chance he will produce the similar form he did last time that’s good enough for me, not bothered about cost Robins has his budget and as long after his summer dealings he is within the budget so what. I’m also sure and contract deal will cover any silliness.

According to Better Days and some others he and the players became fed up with his attitude and looking for short term money benefits.

Assuming we'll have favourable terms on this deal, I'd say it's worth the risk

How many trees did Mark Robins pull up after his first spell with us?

Not as many as Richard Duffy in his four spells... Maybe the tree record will be overtaken by McCallum this season!

I mean if player plays 12 minutes and has their contract terminated its not exactly a successful signing

It's naive not to look at trends, but to point to the exceptions. We wouldn't be signing Dion Dublin and thinking he could turn it on like he used to.

Agreed. He left Greece due to discipline issues but by all accounts was brilliant in India for Robbie Fowler’s side and their fans are devestated he’s not staying

I'm trying to remember what happened now, but I thought Robins did try to get Bright back after his loan spell finished.
Yes he dicked us around a bit and that didn't go down too well.

The Indian super league is horrific quality. His captain was Danny Fox ffs and the top scorer in the league was 38

We know he has a pretty awful attitude and inevitably if he's marginally succesful he will be looking to leg it again at the first offer

I fail to see your point

Robins record as manager here was similar in terms of ppg to it is now (more first time I think)

No one of course knows what we will be paying him. I cannot believe its going to be much -- if its happening I am genuinely astonished given we wrote him off first time round

How did we write him off? I thought we wanted him back?

It says he’s talented but troubled, which we knew.

At the end of the day it’ll come down to how well Robins can manage him and Robins clearly thinks he can.

Didn't we sign Peter Ramage from the Indian league?

May well be the case, I don't personally see what all the fuss is about. Whatever happens its Robins' call & the buck stops with him- and I would assume he's got enough trust in him to be able to make decisions like this.

ANd even if he stays 10 games and directly helps us win, say, 10 extra points but then does a runner, thats fine. I don't think you can turn your nose up at any kind of potential edge you can get in our position.

Bring it on - would like to see him back, he brought some excitement to the game even if not always positive. Most people on here wanted him to sign from Wolves and only started slating him when he went to Wigan. Now apparently he is shit??

Exactly. Can’t wait to see him again, one of the most talented players I’ve seen in a city shirt (wasn’t around for Prem days). Also, his attitude on the training pitch will have to be addressed judging by Davies and Grimmer comments BUT his attitude on the pitch was never bad.

Not wrong. With Kasteneer off though, we need a token maverick loon.

tbf if he's cheap enough, and it's a one year deal with a year's option in our favour, so he can try to get his move, and we flog him quick, then it's no harm done in my view. He did look like he had 'something' after all.

Then again, so did Kevin Thornton...

True, and people mention Kastaneer, Jobello, Hillsner etc and other 'dodgy signings'

They didn't exactly throw the whole club into turmoil did they? It can't really be said that they impacted the club negatively

Again, points of order. The contract was mutually ended. We don't know what went on behind the scenes. If there was anything serious, then it wouldn't be mutually agreed.

It all points to off field stuff. The talent is there and if MR thinks he can harness it then let's get behind him. He'll certainly get you off your seat.

Jobello and Hillsner have zero attitude issues. Even Kastaneer I think was viewed as harmless - just an idiot

Given we were hypothesising about Walsh or re-signing James (my point on James is his injuries and wage commitments negated his worth) its clearly a massive downward curve in quality. I don't really see where he will play given we have O Hare and Jones as AM anyway.

Its pretty underwhelming - he flopped at Wigan and Peterborough showed him the door after an hour in his trial

I thought he had talent but showed little intelligence in his play, would be surprised if he made his presence felt at Championship level

Yes he was erratic and constantly out of position. The one player he linked very well with is gone.
