Anyone who heard his comments judging by what is on here bad first half good second the first half made me wonder what they do in training some of their passing was terrible even short passes over 10 yards were not reaching their target and that was not Willis making them ,passing the ball straight into touch errors you see less on park pitches we were terrible after half time we press them into making mistakes we wanted the ball and moved about giving the player with the ball more than one person to pass to, first half we were like statues . Although I did not hear them I think his comments were spot on.

it's such a shame we couldn't have got the Collins deal over the line. The recruitment was much improved over the summer, just need that 15-20 goal striker. Fingers crossed one of the current lot will come good.

Reading what Collins said when he went to Luton, it didn't look like we had actually made a bid for him.

I heard exactly the same shame as the defence has tightened up ,Burge is more consistent Doyle and Kelly playing well just need someone who you know will convert a few more chances.

Bobby Gould doing the guest commentary on the radio, saying there’s nothing up front and the forwards are struggling physically and mentally.

He then asks Clive the question, “I want to know who is doing the scouting and signing of players at the club”?

I don't think it's the scouting. Anyone any good there is competition from other clubs, and we are always going to lose out in that situation.
For heaven's sake, we lost Moorhouse to Sligo Rovers!

We didn't did we?

There was competition for a few of our players too, from higher leagues too

I actually listened to the whole thing as I couldn't get to the game
As others have said Gouldy comes across as a bloke who's been down the pub prior to the game ranting when things aren't going well in the first half then once things improved 2nd half we can take on the world
His negative comments about the scouting were specifically about Biamou, Devon KE and The Duke (although he only gave their numbers as he didn't know their names) and were made in the first half
But by the end of the game he was raving about all three seemingly having forgotten the earlier criticism
All good fun really

I thought we played well in the first half too. Dominated the game, but lacked the incisiveness

as dke grew in confidence, max grew into the game, and jodi tore their full back a new one- we then added the chances

Me. But I was able to see that the tactical decisions of the manager were designed to protect us defensively and were not playing to the strengths of our forwards particularly after late injuries to Beavon and Vincenti, so I didn't feel the need to brand our players mentally and physically weak or question the entire clubs scouting and transfer policy after a half of football. Gould is an old school buffoon and I'd much prefer less passion and more meaningful insight into the game.

Tbh I had to smile listening to him. It reminded me of listening to an old boy in the pub talking about how much better things were 'in his day'
He hadn't done any preparation and had no idea who any of our players were until his co-commentators told him

You judge players on performance, not wether you know their name or not.

You also judge players based on the system / tactics.

Knowing about players also helps you judge them as you can get an idea on what sort of player they are and what to expect.

So when Dion Dublin dropped back into the Centre half position, we judged him on the tactics/system and not on the fact he was f**king awesome playing up front or in the back four? A footballer, is a footballer, is a footballer. If he 1) Can't listen to the manager's instructions and play accordingly 2) Can't control a ball and pass it ten yards properly 3) Can't take criticism, only plaudits(Rooney comes to mind World Cup in South Africa) he shouldn't be playing football. Simple as that. In other words unless a manager hasn't got a clue and plays a winger at Centre Half or vice versa, every player on the pitch should be able to play where he's told.

Again, how does that relate when we play a defensive system in the first half? Biamou gets slated, yet he won pretty much every header that went to him and directed it to a team mate.

If the game / the system isn't to the striker's strengths then it makes it harder to judge them on it, if we played the same system with DKE as we do with Vincenti in the very same position then could we judge DKE on that?

What about when Ponticelli came on against Blackburn? The only thing he could do was run about in that game, should we judge him for not scoring?

Then it's down to bad management isn't it? The manager should know all strengths and weaknesses in his players and play them accordingly. If you know your winger is shit at defending(In a wingback position) and is more likely than not giving away penalties(McSheff??) you don't put the team at risk by doing so.

That still has nothing to do with the point? If we are playing with a defensive approach with 2 defensive midfielders then it limits the attacking side of things. Most games in the second half Kelly has then pushed forwards which has brought the strikers into the game more (like when he put Duck clean through to score).

Again, Biamou won every header and directed it to a team mate when we went long to him and also worked well to drag players out of position when Jones went on runs by making runs out of the box and then back in again.

It's clear that Robins wants to keep a tight ship, which is always going to have an impact on us going forward as so many players are sitting deep. You would expect a pundit to pick up on things like this and point it out, Baker when he was on seemed to do it where he saw what the game plan was and picked up on that and discussed it.

It's going to be a lot more productive than "I want to know who is scouting and bringing the players to the club" when pretty much everybody knows who is dealing with that side of things anyway.

And what's wrong with being a septeagenarian Whingey? (see what I did there?) I'll leave it at that, or you'll accuse me of moaning. ;-)

Shortly after we sold young Bobby Gould to Arsenal for £100K, (a fortune in those days), it was reported that after seeing Gould his first training session, the Arsenal manager, Bertie Mee was furious. He more or less accused Coventry of being confidence tricksters. TBF, it was a very nice bit of business for us.
