Finally got round to watching - The Dog Stars.

Boy oh boy, Ridley Scott has completely tanked the book with this mess of a film.

The book is outstanding, not far off as being as good as Cormac McCarthy`s - The Road, so why would you chop the book to bits - keeping some bits the same, altering other bits and adding new stuff ?

The book spends ages on character development, which gives you a connection with the characters, where as the film just jumps straight in with no real explanation of who anyone is or how they ended up in the circumstances that they find themselves in, leading to the film feeling flat and disjointed and also leaving you scratching your head about what`s going on.

With a cast of Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Guy Pearce and Margaret Qualley, it would be almost impossible to make a film as bad as this, but somehow they`ve managed it.

If ever a film deserves to be done again properly, it`s The Dog Stars.

Ridley Scott has been serving up some real dross recently.

Watched Resident Evil and Hope this past week.

Resident evil a good brains at the door watch. Hope started excellent then just went downhill after the first half.

Been to see Digger tonight. Absolutely loved it. Not sure I can say much more without it being a spoiler.

I would just say go and see it ASAP so you see it without it being spoiled.

If it wasn't for the subject matter there would definitely be some performances in there being talked about for awards.

It`s been absolutely trashed by the critics ?

It's weird, because even if you don't like it, or don't get it, I'm not sure how you can objectively say its that bad.

Do like the new ads, given the subject matter, that basically highlight that the US and their cronies are trashing the film but the reviews elsewhere are great.

That`s why I always wait for audience reviews over the critics, as there`s a lot of snobbery with some of the critics and quite a few agendas going on too.

This was on BBC 2 at the weekend, so it`ll be on Iplayer - The Order.

Jude Law is good in this, but the rest of the cast almost feel like an afterthought, which spoils it a bit.

Based on a true investigation, Law plays a burnt out FBI agent, who takes a post out in Hicksville USA, to wind down and keep out of the way until retirement.

He stumbles across an ultra far right Neo Nazi group, who are robbing isolated banks using extreme levels of violence and putting the pieces together, he realises that they are robbing the banks to fund a serious terrorist campaign of atrocities, aimed at promoting their Neo Nazi beliefs.

Nicholas Hoult plays the lead terrorist very well, charming, but sinister at the same time.

Like I said, the rest of the cast let it down, as they almost feel like they`re just there to fill in some of the blanks.

I believe it came from a book, which I`m going to get, as with all that`s going on in the US at the moment, it`s quite topical.

The initial bids deadline for producing Doctor Who has passed. Not been made public who has bid but Deadline are reporting that the person behind Line of Duty has bid which is an interesting one.
Deadline can reveal that the Line of Duty showrunner is spearheading a bid to produce Doctor Who after the BBC launched a competitive tender, a bake-off-style process in which producers have put forward plans to regenerate the iconic sci-fi series.

We are told Hat Trick Mercurio (HTM), the production company Mercurio runs with Hat Trick founder Jimmy Mulville, has submitted a proposal with Mercurio attached as an executive producer. Mercurio is a sci-fi fan and created BBC series Invasion: Earth in the 1990s. He has since become one of the nation’s pre-eminent TV scribes, with credits including Bodyguard and Cardiac Arrest. HTM declined comment.

Me and my watched the first 2 episodes of Celebrity Traitors last night, Very good so far James Blunt comes across as a nice guy. Ross Kemps playing up to his image Richard E Grant is hilarious

It's a good line up this year, although the two American's are a bit irritating.
Ross Kemp cracks me up. He really is the same character who he portrays on Extras.

I still find the daytime activities dull. They need to add in some that cause more tension and intrigue within the group.

Monster: A Lizzie Borden story on Netflix.
I thought it was slightly better than the Ed Gein one, but still not great. So much padding and sensationalism to what is quite a limited and unknown story.
Always wonder how Ryan Murphy keeps getting these shows, but I'd imagine his name pulls in a lot of viewers.

Just back and came on to say the same thing.

Fillum of the year for me.

It's not the movie you expected from the trailer.

Bit late to the party on this but watched a couple of episodes of here we go on the iplayer . Really good great cast including Jim Howick , Katherine Parkinson and Tom Basdan.

Just finished the 'Westies' series.

J. K Simmons and Titus Welliver (Bosch) are both great in it
Would highly recommend. 👍

Looking Forward to Blue Planet III later this year, amazing that Attenborough is still doing this at 100 yrs old.
