Finally got around to watching Monos, a foreign language film from a few years back. Very powerful film about child soldiers in the Amazon. Lord of the flies and Apocalypse Now vibes. Definitely recommend

Just finished Furious.

As you say, it`s very good.

I thought it was really clever ( and brave ), the way the investigation centred around a young female serial killer, who was wreaking revenge for the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of wealthy powerful men and who was investigated by a female FBI agent, who was the victim of domestic violence herself and who was incredibly damaged herself as a result.

Some really funny black humour running through it too, quite a tough watch in parts though.

Scoot McNair in support to the lead was excellent, as always.

It`s one I can see being a word of mouth hit.
Indeed

The characters were very strong too. Catherine, Alice, Danny and Nora.

All had depth, which was nice to see.

Really looking forwards to the second season

The writing was excellent, as was the casting.

Even though the young serial killer was totally mad, you really sympathised with her, as you understood what had driven her to madness and murder and in the end you found yourself wanting to succeed in her quest.

Nice to see something straying away from the usual " serial killer v Detective " tropes too.

I`ve recently started Gomorrah Origins, the prequel to the outstanding Italian language Mafia series, Gomorrah.

It`s not doing it for me, but I`ll finish it, as it`s only six episodes.

It feels like a vanity project to me.

One problem with Netflix and the other streamers are the amount of shows they abandon. What's the point of getting into something only to find it was cancelled?
Great reviews, by all accounts great viewing figures so cancelled after one season. The show ended up an Amazon after they won a bidding war as it was in high demand.

The Wargame

● Based on the Sky News original podcast, The Wargame is a new part-documentary, part-drama Sky Original.

● In the landmark four-part series, real political figures take part in a simulated scenario where they respond to a Russian attack on UK soil.

● The four-part series airs nightly from Monday 21 September, with the final episode followed by a special live programme, The Wargame: Live, filmed in front of a studio audience and hosted by Cathy Newman.

What is The Wargame about?

In a landmark new series, The Wargame takes viewers into a realistic scenario and into the top-secret world of a COBR-style crisis room.

Part constructed documentary, part propulsive drama, real-world senior politicians, military leaders and intelligence from across the globe come together into the room to take on a simulated national emergency.

Set six months in the future, the simulation unveils how those involved react and respond to a scenario where there’s been a Russian attack on UK soil.

This is political pressure at its highest level, with the simulation created in conjunction with a team of leading academics, military and defence experts, including Sky News’ Security and Defence Editor Deborah Haynes, to be as accurate as possible.

Over the course of the series, those inside the war room decide what to do next, and how to best navigate Britain through the disaster, with every decision potentially having long-term consequences.

The fictional Cabinet are given news updates, social media footage, and intelligence reports as well as unexpected turns, giving them a new dilemma to deal with as if this was happening in real time.

A provocative stress test on our leaders, our institutions and the country itself, this unmissable event television prompts us all to engage with our new geopolitical reality.

The Wargame is based on the award-winning Sky News podcast of the same name, and is produced by The Garden, part of ITV Studios whose previous work includes Attack on London: Hunt for the 7/7 Bombers and 24 Hours in Police Custody.

Just back from watching Resident Evil…
Well that was fun!

Never really been into the games and only caught bits of one or two of the other films…and wasn’t overly impressed. This one was terrific fun…a shoot ‘em up with a soul!

Enough tense moments. Enough gore. The right balance of comedy.

We both really enjoyed it. My daughter had low expectations off the back of the very shite Evil Dead Rising. This one was far superior and if anything managed to capture the humour of the first Evil Dead’s.

Really enjoyed it.

Edit: Evil Dead Burn not Evil Dead Rising. EDR I thought was very good.

They`ve turned it into a gore fest comedy horror, which sounds like it shouldn`t work, but it does !

Ive been watching this. Don't know if I'm over thinking it but the amount they bang on about our armed forces being down to the bare bones it does make me wonder if Murdoch commisioned the show as part of his agenda to get Reform or Tories in 🤔

Anyway as a drama its pretty good. I bet that c**t Gove loved playing dress up as the PM!

*Fun story. Me and my family were on a train going to Blackpool in 2015. When we boarded in Cov, Gove and some of his cronies were in our reserved seats (not 1st class). Took great pleasure in telling him to move and as he moved down the carriage he was recognised and booed by most of the passengers. To be fair to him he took it well and it was good humoured

I was only holiday in North Cornwall a few years back and was stood on the shoreline of a packed beach, keeping an eye on the kids whilst they played on their body boards in the surf and Nigel Farage was stood next to me in his beach shorts, doing the same with his daughters. ( He was the leader of UKIP at the time ).

I genuinely hate the fella and it really caught me off guard, however I`m great believer that it doesn`t matter how repulsive you are as a human being, when you`re with your family, you`re off limits and didn`t say anything to him.

I saw him again the following day in Padstow and he was getting dogs abuse off passers by :ROFLMAO:

Watched the extended highlights on youtube of the Forest game as we were away - its finished and by the way what a clearance by Bobby - this vid started i dont know why but i watched it fascinating- 30 mins on the Falklands Vulcan raid - well explained with great images - brave people !

I really enjoyed it too.

Funny without being horrible or gratituous.

Have to say, I was disappointed with Bad Apples. I felt it didn't lean into the absurdity of the premise enough.

Been watching a series called 60 days in . It’s a reality show set in an American prison where 7 volunteers are given different identities and backgrounds stories. And try to find out issues within the prison system . I found it on the dodgy stick but I think it’s on 4od

Just watched this on Sky Documentary channel. What an odious piece of shit this man is

Immaculate.

For the record, I`m not a fan of Sydney Sweeney, but she`s really good in this and she produced it too.

Best described as a Gothic Horror, with shades of Rosemary`s Baby.

Sweeney plays a young novice Nun, who enters a convent that acts as a palliative care hospice for dying Nuns, in a rural part of Italy.

All is well until Sweeney, who despite being a virgin ( don`t laugh ) finds herself pregnant and the rest of the Convent, believe she is carrying the Child of God and she`s then lauded as a modern day saint by all in the Convent.

From then on things become pretty horrific for her and some of the other young Nuns in the convent.

I went into this not expecting much, mainly because of Sweeney, who I really dislike, but it was a really effective horror - beautiful setting, spooky and atmospheric, the Italians in it spoke Italian, with subs, rather than stupid Italian English accents and once it got going, when Sweeney finds out she`s pregnant, it really got going and ramped up the sense of dark forbodeing that runs through the whole film.

The way the pregnancy is eventually explained is clever, which is something I didn`t see coming and towards the end you`re never really sure whether she`s carrying the Devils child or the child of God.

The ending is a genuine shocker too, which I`m glad they did, as it would`ve been the easy option to bottle it and make it all nice and neat.

It was on BBC2 last night, so It`ll be on Iplayer.

Good little film.

PS - don`t watch it if you`re religious !!!!

She was actually really good in another film I saw last year. Can't remember the title but she played a CIA whistle blower who got caught

Genuinely brilliant , some of the other characters are hilarious . Jim bowers cameo is quality

It`s up there with the British comedy greats, the likes of Porridge, Rising Damp etc.

I always thought Early Doors, never got the true recognition it deserved, as that`s another comedy that`s just so beautifully written.

It`s so cleverly written, similar to the Royal Family, in that it manages to turn the simple escapism of a couple of pints, into something very funny.

I was gutted when they finished it after two series.

Operation Good Guys is another that never got the recognition it deserved either, some of the episodes genuinely had me crying with laughter - the stake out with Jude Law, where they got bored, so started stripping the house of it`s fixtures and fittings, the episode where the went to Jamaica on a cultural exchange and the bosses got stoned off their heads, whilst dressed as Rasta`s and talking patois :ROFLMAO:

I remember the one where they had intel about a shoot that was gonna go down, involving someone with the street name of C-Man 🤣

Early doors is genius, I was brought up in the pub trade and can relate to a lot of the characters, Phil Mealey is touring next year talking about the show.

To the Regiment

3 episodes into the new series of Mobland , very entertaining. Tom Hardy and the rest of the cast seem to be taking it serious but Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren seem to be playing it as a pantomime .

Yorkshire TV have remade 'The Fly' - Instead of a fly and Jeff Goldblum, it's Fred Dibnah and Chris Wilder:

Amazon Prime have just dropped Band of Brothers and The Pacific.
Watched them years ago and just watched again.
Really Good.
