Red Riding Trilogy.
Just about to drop on Netflix.
Based on the books of the same name, written by David Peace who did the Damned United.
Originally released in the mid 90`s, so a lot will have missed it first time around.
Follows a young reporter in West Yorkshire, as he covers the Yorkshire Ripper murders and in doing so, he stumbles into a web of corrupt land development deals, involving local councillors, the police, who are also involved in child abduction / abuse and murder.
One of the all time great British crime dramas and I go as far as to say, in terms of quality it`s as good as series one of True Detective.
It`s unrelentingly bleak, dark as anything and the subject matter at times is really not for the faint hearted, but the writing and acting is sublime, with an ensemble British cast and Sean Bean giving the performance of his lifetime, as a bent councillor with a penchant for young girls.
