Word from those ITK at our end is that this is basically done and set to be confirmed. Supposedly just under £2m. Moult has been linked with Salford on loan.

You'll sell him for possibly ten times as much

Miles off Championship standard but would probably score a fair few goals in L1 or L2.

Is Stockley first choice? Think he’ll be a regular?

Wind your neck in.... 2 million for someone who struggled in league 1 last year is incredible, and there will be a hefty sell on clause attached to that as well. A bit like Madison I think bayliss with thrive in the championship with more time to do things so it's win win for both the club and him

If there is it's not so bad, but we don't know (will we know?).

Anyway, inevitable we'd have to sell once Wilson and Maddison stayed put.

We've sold two players who probably wouldn't have started tomorrow. I rate both highly, so it is disappointing.

But, what do people expect? Revenues will be down by around £3 million this season because of a position forced on the football club. Are they wrong to try to keep the club solvent during a very uncertain time?

We'll now look to the loan market. Let's see who we bring in.

It's a big gamble for Preston considering they're just a team who make up the numbers in the championship.

I think it’s inevitable. If it allows 2 to come in I’ll be happy. I’ll miss his marauding runs from midfield though

Agreed. £3m due to a release clause is one thing. £2m seems low. Then again he’s obviously had his head turned by all the bags and didn’t exactly set the world alight last season.

Disappointing.

In the end it plugs the shortfall, however, agree with Fernando 2 million for a lad with international potential is shit.

The clubs owners said they would cover the costs of the move (as they should as they are the ones wanting to continue gambling on court action). Not sure you can now say we had to sell players because of it. To be honest both sales seem more like managed football decisions than things forced on us by the move.

It`s a weird one. I genuinely think you would struggle to say he had one good game last year. Having said that you can tell quality wise he was way ahead of anyone. I lost count of the amount of times he put Thomas in with a measured pass behind the fullback. Clearly has huge potential but in terms of our immediate team I think there are midfielders who could do a more useful job in League 1 for us.

Gutted, Bayliss is a top player. I guess the writing was on the wall when he was left out in pre-season. Need a striker and no 10 for certain now as we can’t play 4-3-3 with only 3 first team midfielders and Westbrooke as back up.

Maybe we can get bright and striker in now.

I disagree, Lookman went for 11million from league one. I think you could expect 4 or 5 million based on that. Just my opinion.

The mass hysteria amongst our fans is incredible.

Everybody breathe and calm down.

2mill with add ons is great, if he kicks on like Madisson then we are in line for another 3-5 down the line. If not then 2 mill was brilliant business.

If this lands us Bright and a striker then I cant see a problem.

I actually think the writing has been on the wall with this one, he hasn't featured this preseason and Allen is his replacement.

I'd go as far as saying Allen is a better player at the minute - obviously he just doesnt have the potential.

I cannot see Bayliss being another Maddison and I am not convinced he will be a Premier League player.

For me, £2m is fair (assuming we have add ons)

True. In addition to that the selling is happening at the end of pre-season because the club first had to see how many season tickets were sold and then act accordingly.
I for one am grateful to MR for staying with us and being a realist. He could easily get a position in the championship and leave us whinging about how unfair everything is, but he hasn't. All clubs work on a tight budget and our is the same. Most supporters, who don't have billionaire owners hate the owners so our club, even though some think it's the end of the world, are just in the same situation as us.
The thing that keeps me going is Leicester. They were in the same situation even 10 years ago and were our 'rivals' even up till 6 years ago and look what has happened to them over the past 4 years? Yes, we could be glass half empty and say we are like Bolton, but we could also be half full and be a Leicester.

Gutted I won’t get to see him drop a shoulder, leave his man for dead then drive straight at the defender. Will have a great career and wish him all the best.

Please, please, please MR have his replacements ready to go.

Don’t think it’s a bad fee but could have got more. The whole situation definitely smacks of him being hawked about. If we follow this up with a couple of permanent signings and a loan I will be happy enough. Losing a player of immense quality but he didn’t seem to quite do it last season, be that tactically or due to fatigue. Was looking forward to seeing him kick on again this season. Just a shame it’s done so late in the day.

I thought Bayliss underperformed for most of last season, seemed to disappear a lot.

Dont doubt there's a player there though, and saw glimpses of it, with more time and a different game in the Championship think it will suit him better.

If it means we can get 2 players in, striker and CAM then i think this is a good deal for all, Preston got a good player, Bayliss tested at higher level and we can strengthen where we need to, with Kelly/Allen/Westbrooke/Shipley/Wakefield think we can afford to lose Bayliss

Fingers crossed it means we can get a couple of signings over the line

Feel a bit deflated last couple of days with us losing out to Lincoln for a striker and now losing our most valuable academy graduate with a lot of potential. Just hope we have adequate replacements bought in and we win at the weekend to cheer us up!

Maybe you're right on the last point, certainly as far as Chaplin is concerned.

But, I think it would be naive to dismiss the financial pressures, and we also don't know how much the 9 players we've brought in have cost the club, or for how long SISU will subsidise the move (if at all).

I also think the Wilson deal, or lack of it, was a real blow. Don't want to argue about who is responsible for us playing in Birmingham, that has been done to death, but it has clearly created pressures where if a reasonable bid comes in for a player, the club are perhaps more inclined to cash in than they would have been had we been playing at the Ricoh tomorrow.

I'd always be prepared to gamble, as long as the sell-on clause is right. Eventually, one must come off for us!

As a player, don't think we'll miss him next season but a buying club's buying potential really and, if we get the fee wrong, we could look silly in a couple of years.

Anyway, this the season that Burroughs starts to make the breakthrough in central midfield? There's now an opportunity there. And Westbrook played a couple last season (if rather anonymously!) so there's a like-for-like replacement who now needs to either step up, or move aside so he's not blocking the path of others.
