I think we will win this one - have no idea why but just think we will - we are decent at home and will be buzzing and Barnsley have poor record against us and are secure in play offs and can afford to lose the game too!

Nah even if it's secure you want to be in strong form going into the play offs.

After the result between Reading and Cardiff tonight, placing both teams well off 6th place now, I can see a less forward looking Barnsley side looking for a draw now.
Think we might beat them and virtually assure our place in the championship. I'd take a draw.

I see the opposite , Barnsley see a win as cementing their playoff place , a gap of 7 points ...and will go for it

We’ll go for it no matter what. Ismaël doesn’t go out for draws, its shit or bust, if we do draw we’ll have been trying to win.

I respect the way Barnsley approach the game. However they are an anomaly this season. If they got to the premier league it would be embarrassing.

If you don’t go up, and I hope you do I reckon you could lose Valerian Ismael going to be a few clubs on the look out for managers this summer.

players and coaches can come and go, as they inevitably will, they all have their price. we’re set up for a high turn over of playing and coaching personnel, as long as we can keep our recruitment team together, losing people for the right money won’t be a big problem to us, if recent transfer activities are anything to go by. It’s not really something to be over concerned about due to the way the clubs set up.

But that's one of the beautiful things about football ..outsiders against all the odds doing something amazing .

It would be a shame if it just went to those with the most money all the time because we'd never ever get back then , we all need that hope

Win this game and we are safe.

I don't see why not, I think their style of play will suit us. I'd take a draw though because of their form and league position

Be interesting to see how MR sets up for this. Going from @Barnsley & other stuff I've read it seems like they prey on teams who try to play from the back. I can't remember who they were playing, but I remember reading a report on a Barnsley game they expected to win, but drew, and were frustrated by the opposition playing directly, effectively making it a stalemate, so we mustn't fall into their trap. I note the comments made about their high back line too. It is noticeable as the season has gone on that we have become more pragmatic, and looked to play from the back much less than previously. To do that we have to play 2 up front so as to give us more opportunity to hold the ball up & keep possession in their half. With their high defensive line I would prefer to play Gyokeres instead of Godden, given Godden's lack of pace which will make it difficult to exploit the space in behind their high line. Also sounds like an indicator of any likely success will be how far advanced we can get our wing backs. If they are pinned back we are likely to struggle, but looking forward to seeing how MR approaches this. If all else fails Barnsley still have the weight of history against them in winning at our place

Also, funny thinking back to the 0-0 at their place earlier in the season. At the time we were all gutted, thinking it was 2 points dropped and a missed opportunity to beat a relegation rival. Don't think any of us foresaw their subsequent run of form.

I'd completely reverse this. If Barnsley go up, it's a triumph of smart management and intelligent use of resources.

What's embarrassing is that to do well in the Premier League it now seems that a team needs billionaire backers.

If Barnsley should get promoted on their merits, by being one of the best teams in the Championship, but subsequently sink without trace in the Premiership, as they well might, then the problem isn't with them; it's with the gulf that's been created between the divisions by the vast amounts of money sloshing around at the top.

Until something is done to make this more equitable, then any team that goes up (including maybe, one day, us), is likely to struggle.

And we’re experiencing the same to an extent moving from L1 to Champ. The gulf in budgets is ridiculous. What Barnsley have achieved this season even if they don’t make the play-offs is great.

As true as this is and as much as I’d want to see them do Bournemouth in the final, their Chinese owner has 4 other European clubs on the go. It’s not exactly a strategy that can be easily reproduced without exploiting a massive loophole.

AFCB and Brentford have the quality to rip us a new arse hole. And Swansea could bore a trainspotter into mistakes. It’s probably a step too far for us this season.

Got a feeling that we’re going to get all 3 points. The players were obviously buzzing after the final whistle on Thursday so I recon we’ll be right up for this. Carrying momentum, carrying belief and maybe not looking over our shoulders just quite so much might just improve our game by allowing the team to play with more confidence and less fear.

I’d more than settle for a point though.
