Except the amount being offered was far, far less than £10m and wouldn't have been a permanent arrangement. Also, high rent wasn't the real reason we left the Ricoh, and all of us here know that.

No problem with Sisu taking over the Ricoh then as no danger of being held to ransom.

Excellent, glad that's been sorted out.

I don't remember idolising any of our players when I was growing up, and that's when they were actually any good. Scrooge, humbug, bah, etc.

Really? Surely you are in the minority? I hero worshipped City players when I was a lad a million times more than any other sportsman/pop star/film star.

Oggy, Cyrille, Terry Gibson, Speedie, Nuddy. Many many more. All of them absolute gods to me.

I really don't see what the fuss is about, they reached /surpassed a criteria, they're given an award for it. The fact that we play 30 odd miles away isn't part of the criteria. Well done to those Coventry fans that give up their time for free to make the experience as good as it is for the kids despite SISU.

Well he was heroic in a "trying hard although desperately out of his depth" way

He's one of quite a few who could make a "how the hell did they become a professional footballer?" list.

I often wonder how we didn't get relegated in 93/94 when the following players all started first team matches (IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE!);

Steve Morgan
Sean Flynn
David Rennie
John Williams
Willie Boland
Julian Darby
Leigh Jenkinson
Jonathan Gould
Tony Sheridan
Ally Pickering
John Gayle
Sandy Robertson
Martyn Booty
Detsi Kruszynski
Mick Harford

I would say hats off to Gould and then Neal for keeping that rabble up.

There are some shockers on there, Lee. Some I'd blotted from my memory.

Bear in mind I didn't start going regularly till I was about 11 by which point you start growing out of seeing footballers as idols. I wasn't ambivalent but hero would be going too far. Certainly wasn't meant to come across as a dig, if Torch is reading.

Huckerby, Whelan and Dublin were my favourite players by some way. Huckerby later cemented that with the bizarre song about him on the 'COV' album you can get on iTunes,

Played at the 4-2 defeat at Wycombe in 93. Towards the end of the 2nd Gould era, it probably was the end when he'd signed him and John Gayle tbf,

Willie Boland was a decent player imo btw. Otherwise the 93/94 squad was gash yet the best performing one in the Prem era.

Why do you want to see what him and his son look like?

There is a photo of him & his young son.
Maybe an updated one, with a now greying AT & older son, outside Sixfields?
