Maxwell hated it, basically said if you don`t like it piss off.... which made us more determined..... think it was the Reading board that got an injunction against it and they went down and we went on to have the best few years I have ever or will ever experience.

Having seen us playing & suviving in Div 1 (Premier League for the kids) down to the pits of playing at places like St Albans........ its been a ride!!

Little known fact about the Milk Cup final..... Maurice Evans, who had taken the helm after Jim Smith left, let Ken Fish go up the steps to get a medal. Ken was the club trainer for 20+ years and was 72 at the time..... proper gentleman was Maurice... never a football manager!!

Intransient landlord whose current end game is to sell the football ground & car parks for housing,as it is inside the city council boundary and offers prime development space next to his hotels & leisure complex.
Then factor on the supportersTrust who have recently slapped a community interest right to bid order on it, and other parties who previously wanted to move the Club to other locations and you have a right tangled mess of "interested parties".
Many of the interested parties have been blindsided by Kassam before so they "don`t get on" which leaves us with the supporters trust, Darryl Eales & Kassam at a bit of an en passe with all wanting different outcomes!
Kassam wants around £16+ million for what is there but won`t sell to an individual (eg: Darryl) he is willing sell to the Trust ..... Darryl funds/bankrolls the FC and its losses/revenues so could do without paying 1/2 million in rent & could do with matchday revenue from catering & corporate (Kassam gets that as well!!).......the other parties seem to think that Water Eaton could be a "proper ground with everything under the FC`s control" for sub £20 million........ interesting times ahead.

Me........ buy it..... put the fourth stand up (footings are under the car park already)...... fill the corners..... 25k capacity and flirting with the top of the Championship..... :nailbiting::nailbiting::happy:

What keeps us afloat (currently) is bringing players through our academy/youth set up: Callum O`Dowda to Bristol C for £1.2 million which could rise to £1.6 million on appearances plus 30% sell on clause. The scouting system is also fairly good at finding the occasional "gem" from elsewhere; Kemar Roofe had been floating around on loans from West Brom until we signed him on a 3 year deal, everything clicked and he went to Leeds for circa £5 million with another reported hefty sell on.
We do get some match day revenue....... ticket & programme sales..... we have around 4,000 ST holders and some big games (Swansea,Newcastle,Blackburn) in the FA Cup "runs" have added to the coffers..... and the Johnstones Paint/Chubba Chips Trophy has also generated some additional income thanks to the additional prize money on offer. After that Daryl writes a cheque and is currently "in" for £800k or so.

Much the same as last year as long as we turn up, give you a good game and have a good day out in the smoke that`ll do me.... the result is a little bit immaterial, if we win great..if we lose I won`t be throwing myself under a train! :happy:

PS: Take a big bag or pocket for the programme.....last years was A4 size, 114 pages and a bit of a lump to carry round... and only £5!!

Wow, Oxford has a scouting system, Coventry... don't ask, we are on the 2nd manager that has been astonished there was nothing and 2nd promise that one will be set up.

We had you at 42,840 but then some "re-appeared" and others get sold/go into baskets which makes it a challenge for dotologists. I would say it`ll be a definite over 43k by the end of today. @Liquid Gold is letting your side down a bit.....

As we are unable to utilise the interactive seating plan now we have deployed the 42nd Dotoligists Wing (Oxford Division) to the ground with clipboards, diagrams of Wembley and coloured pens to catch those who turn up to buy in person. layful::joyful:

I gave up when they put half of Wembley back on sale. Blame ticketmaster. Also if you want up to date info on Wembley ticket sales you should be speaking to RB who started this thread, I think his last update has us on about 150,000

When you look at articles on Oxford they do seem to operate on a very low wage structure. Appleton almost in one implies there is a cap they won't go above for any individual.

The difference is in the structure and controls. We chuck the budget at hopeless oafs like Mowbray and Venus who give no planning to recruitment structure at all.

In one interview Appleton said if a player wanted £5k a week we'd just think let's find a player at £1.5k a week who can give us the same. Mowbray and Venus would just spend weeks trying to offer the same player the lower wages and then scratch their heads when eventually the player finds another club that meets his wage aspiration.

@Grendel pretty much spot on.
Appleton talks a lot about "DNA" , he wants players that want to play for us even if its only a stepping stone for their career. If players aren`t up to the mark in matches, training and so on they are soon on the way out .... we had a lad called Dan Crowley in from Arsenal for a while, had an excessive attitude that didn`t fit in with the squad/team ethic.... he went back.
Appleton is a very good manager of ego`s (most pro footballers have them!) & players and brings out the best in a lot of them but it seems there are some even he can`t work with.
