My guess is that this summer BTA, Simms, Binks, Lati, Bidwell, Eccles, Allen, Collins and Milan were all made available for transfer this window but only Binks and Milan had takers. Would imagine Frank isn't to bothered either way about whether the players left or stayed, both options have there benefits and drawbacks.

Again wouldn't be surprised if they were still moved on as we move through the window.
Absolutely no chance. Lets make 9 of the squad available. A squad that got in the playoffs.
Lampard has said he is happy with his players and would like some additions.
You take the minutes those players did out of the squad and replace them with who?
Every player in any squad is available if the price is right, but you don't just make them available because some social media pundits would like it to happen.

Wouldn't mind them running the rule over Brandon Williams, i know the lad has done wrong and lost his way. But may be he can find his way back and understand the talent he has. Done well at Hull and could add competition in both LB and RB as cover.

A lot depends on identifying the right player at the right price who wants join us. Football is not an exact science and it is easier said than done. Even players who seem the perfect fit can flop for all sorts of reasons.

I would rather we build slowly by identifying the right players rather than signing players just to tick a box. Plenty of time left in this window also and we should be reasonably competitive already.
Exactly. Every fan all around the world, loves a new signing, the more the merrier. However it is not us that has to write the cheques. Over the last 20/30 years look how many clubs, including us have got into serious financial difficulty, when even the club's existence is called into question. The old maxim , you can only spend a pound once still rings true.
Apparently, we needed a new GK, RB, LB, CH, CM, RW, CF maybe a LW , so basically a completely new side. So, for example we need to replace the 4 strikers we all got excited about the last 2 years when we bought them. And even if we get the new players people are demanding, you can guarantee come December , supporters will be demanding another 2/3 players to push on for promotion. And next close season fans will be demanding we buy more players to replace the said players we bought this year.
Like you said it's not an exact science, sometimes it's maybe better to wait until you get a player who ticks more boxes, than buy a player because he is available. Just remember the best team in England never bought a single player last year, but still won the league, Now the players they really like are now available.

Not exactly strengthened have we, keeper was a forced signing, we’ve swapped a very good RB for hopefully the same level and not sure about the new LB, kicking off the season with the same team that came up short last season ?
Forced signing or not we're not going into the season with Wilson in goal and Collins as his backup. How can that not be stronger?

I know it's only been friendlies before anyone says it but other than the goal he gave away with the miscontrol of the ball he's made a few very good saves already. He comes out and actually catches the ball. Always alert to the ball coming over our defence. He is going to be worth quite a few points compared to what we had. Reality will hit home when the season starts.

He also does this weird thing of communicating with his defence, instead of the telepathy of his predecessors.

Because we didn’t get promoted? The league looks very competitive this year and I can only assume that not strengthening will yield the same result as last year. I get that it’s a long term goal that Doug has in place but I’d have hoped for us to be signing some quality on top of the quality we already have, rather than filling in gaps or injured players.
So far it looks competitive but not as strong as last season. There's no side like Leeds for starters that were in the Championship last season. Other than Ipswich there's a doubt or two against each side. Most sides haven't brought in players where you think it improves them. Norwich have brought in decent players but have lost the players that scored half their goals.

Other than signing a GK that could end up being one of the best in the Championship we're more or less the same side that got the 4th most points from when Lampard took over and that was with Collins and Wilson in goal. 2 of them sides went up. Sheffield United don't look as strong.

I agree, as things stand, but they have received around £20 million more in player sales than they have spent so far. If they spend that war chest - and spend it well - they could have a very strong squad.

The big unknown is whether Hamer stays or goes.

Well we have heard it from the horses mouth we don’t go chasing players in the last few days of a transfer window. Only if negotiations are already a long way down the line will the club pursue things into the last few days.

Not since paying through the nose for Kitching anyway.

It's the combined amount for Simms, BTA, Bassette that gets me more than anything. A lot of money for such a limp bunch, i'm sure if offered the money back on the lot Lampard wouldn't choose to keep any over having the money to spend again.

Barring a major personality turnaround it seems pretty clear that the worst signing we’ve had in years is Bassette.
Have to agree, I haven't seen anything on the pitch to suggest Bessette will be a top player and he is not likeable at all.

I feel like there’s only so bad a signing you can be if you ultimately generate a profit for the club. Not sure the same will be true for any of the other three.
We dont actually know if we made a profit.

Yes but this supports what I said, "unless it is already a long way down the line"

What Kitching said when he joined

It’s been a bit of a long one, to be fair.

“I heard there was a bit of interest after Wembley and it’s been a bit of a slow burner but on Deadline Day it finally got done.”
