Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window (66 Viewers)

long way home

The main thing is we control the outcome of our players. If anyone goes it will be when we get what we value each player.

Who goes and when they go doesn't matter so much as long as the general depth of the squad improves. I still think we are unbalanced but it's not a massive task, just a few brought in while positions of depth need thinking out.

Do you really think we've signed KKH as back up to MvE ?
He's been signed because after MvE he's about as good as there is out there at our level .
Milan is going , we just need King to work his bargaining magic
Yet again here we go again.

MVE will go as long as we receive an acceptable offer. €6m isn't acceptable. He will be worth more than that in a years time. €6m is the best offer we seemed to have had so far. With the sell on clause we would be reaching about even. That isn't good enough for one of our best players.

Where are the posts suggesting we should take less than 15m euros?

Honestly thought I’d typed £15m but I hadn’t.
In any case the chatter then was about a bid of £17m vs £20m+ so you’re right to call me out.

There are some interesting lines though. And if nothing else, the link shows that Team Gyökeres did exactly the same thing to us and they are doing to Sporting.

Yeah not a massive fan of pretending we don’t know TBH. Vik says it, the ITKs say it, every newspaper says it. At some point if it walks like a Doug and looks like a Doug, it’s a Doug.

Ive backed King on various other things, I just think he’s a noob owner with a singular focus on squeezing every penny and doesn’t realise the realities of transfers. Like Sisu when they first came in and fucked up the likes of Westwood.

£17m is a very fair price for Vik. We clearly don’t have the interest at £20m. It’s very noble to try and get as much as possible but we are skint and have a squad that desperately needs players. I just think he’s playing this badly.

So it’s only 18M€ upfront so about £15m

If Sporting take their ball home for good then your next bidder offers less if they've got any sense. Say £15m

Exactly. A real risk that the price will drop if someone plays hardball.

Just take the money

Contrary to what people believe Sporting are the only show in town. We're (Doug) is risking our biggest ever payday as a club by trying to squeeze out am extra few million. Yes thats a great tactic for a couple of weeks, but we fly to fucking Portugal in 4 days with a youth team and 9 first teamers it cannot go on

17 Million quid a 35% sell on for a man who wants out and has only 12 months left is a good enough ( and record for us) payday to rebuild the squad

We need @Winny the Bish and @Tea & Busquets to get there scouting heads on for a right sided player , either a loanee or a European player .
Come on fellas 💪

I need to take a deeper look for more options but Lamine Cisse at Bastia is a very fun player who would be at the top of my shortlist. 22yo, 9G5A in Ligue 2 last season.

Played all across the front 3, not 100% sure if RW is his best position. Very quick and a good dribbler. Stoke have apparently just had a bid rejected.

During the 2023 transfer window, when this forum was in its usual annual summer lunatic asylum holding, there was a lot of discussion on the Gyökeres thread.

If you want some late night reading, between page 60-85 there are a lot of people devaluating his transfer fee. There were only a couple of people saying that sort of figure you quoted, (I seem to remember 7-10 million from a few - including Simon Gilbert) but a good many who thought he would, and should, go for significantly under 20, and knocked anyone down who thought otherwise.

Most of the conversation was centered around him not having any interest and that we should sell him for the first possible bid - because we wouldn't get anything better and our value of him was too high.

When of course that turned out incorrect, it saw a lot of bruised egos. The chap from kenilworth, and some of the usual contrarians on this forum didn't have their best days in the sun, you could say. That thread should be in the SBT hall of fame really, as it has everything - charity bets, allegations of Japanese xenophobia, and a usual smothering of doubling down when it all went horribly wrong.

It really is a classic.

This is quite illuminating

Gyokeres

Includes

In context, I loved Gyokeres as a player, he was the best player in the league and the best CF. Like everyone else I would have loved for him to have stayed for even just another season but that clearly was never going to happen after the PO final defeat and immediately he threw his agent into PR overdrive and thought he could bully the club into accepting a lower than market value price.

The sooner he fucks off, i.e., doesn’t damage squad morale and we can move on, was what I was getting at 2 years ago.

He’s still up to his old tricks with his agent, and let’s hope, again, it’s the right move and maximum fee.

It’s only missing a mention of the 16/17 season and more input from the Doug Queen apologists.

I read this as 95 G/A and got super excited then seen the stats. It appears they rejected a £1m bid holding out for £1.5m

Stoke and Hull want him

I'd have thought 6 million euros is more of a water tester than anything. Will be much nearer 10

Its *almost* like the majority of fans know absolutely FUCK ALL about the actual reality of football finances and transfer negotiations and should shut the fuck up when auctioning off our best players to the lowest bidders ey

Not really, it's not great top to bottom but leagues like that will always have teams at the top that are more attractive than your average Championship outfit. Holland is similar, poor top to bottom but delusional to think PSV, Ajax, Feyenoord wouldn't be more attractive than a Championship team.
Lery sane
John dhuran
Kokcu
Tammy Abraham

All signed this summer on top of ohsimen

They after chanalogue too

Turkish league on a high at the mo imo.
