So no Collins, binks, Bassette again today - wonder if things are happening.
Wouldn't read too much into it. It's pre-season, a tiny niggle will mean they won't risk playing someone. Doesn't mean they won't be moved on, just that not appearing in a friendly means nothing in terms of whether players are in plans.

Isn't this whole Hamer replacement argument wearing thin by now ?
If it was as easy as finding a player as good as him why didn't we , and why don't other clubs ?
Fact is , as he's proven since , that Gus was and is a level above. Also his ability to play 6/8/10 in any given system isn't something that many modern players can do .
I agree however that expecting Ayari to fill his role was extremely optimistic

Just get an average player and ban him from kebabs apparently

They’ve all trained - I saw Collins myself this morning, it’s odd they’ve had no minutes.

Would be for best to move them on / loan out Bassette.

FL and Doug must be very confident in what they have and what they see, if they are not actively looking to move on at least 4 of the current squad to improve the quality. In my opinion we need to create space and money to reinvest if we are trying to go one better than last season. If DK and FL are happy as is, I think it's a top 10 squad if nothing changes.

It's still currently largely the same squad that finished 5th last year.

I agree if that's what they want this squad is capable. But to go one step better we need to improve because if you stand still others will pass you by. I'm just posting we need to improve in areas where we can all see we are weak.

I don't disagree. We're not miles off though. Probably a CB & GK. Striker a nice to have but only if one of Simms/BTA move. Keeping goals out was definitely the weakness last year.
