Prompts an interesting question though: we effectively ‘lost’ a season post-Hamer, with the lack of creativity / drive from midfield, but gained £15m.
Give or take, that £15m - arguably/ultimately - allowed us to bring in: MVE (£3.4m), Rudoni (£5m), Mason Clarke (£4.25m), Saka (£1.2m) and, say, Thomas (£2m).
So, assuming that’s ’the model’, are we all happy effectively ‘burning’ a season after the big sales - assuming that we wait for the right replacements and the longer term trajectory of the club is positive (which is seems to be)?
For me, it’s a resounding yes - but we need to remember that after the next big sale: MVE, Rudoni, Wright etc - that £15m is now, conservatively, worth £30m/£40m, and we’re a better overall team for it.
People often refer to the Brentford or Brighton model as being the bar to hit, but the one I'd prefer is Fulham. Nothing extravagant, not relying on eye watering fees outgoing or incoming, just sustainable incremental progress. Granted their owner is minted. The key is the replacements. Brentford lost their 2 best players (Watkins & Benrahma) and still got promoted - they didn't burn or lose a season
Clearly our replacements fell through and we had to get Ayari. We were still pushing for Swift on deadline day IIRC (glad we missed out)
Was also the recruitment teams first window - the KKH deal points to us being more prepared for departures than before
Was gonna say, Shad Khan is a billionaire lolPeople often refer to the Brentford or Brighton model as being the bar to hit, but the one I'd prefer is Fulham. Better than the other options we have.Angus Gunn rumour on twitter. 12 month contract. Good back up, cover for a year?
Another JH guaranteeAngus Gunn rumour on twitter. 12 month contract. Good back up, cover for a year?
I saw his name mentioned but more somebody saying they wouldnt mind him rather than a rumourAngus Gunn rumour on twitter. 12 month contract. Good back up, cover for a year?
I can’t remember the exact sequencing, so you may be right, but it’s safe to assume that they were all signed based on the cash being made available by the Gyokeres / Hamer moves.Hadn't Milan, Sakamoto and Thomas signed before Hamer left?
Who knows. Maybe just misinterpreted what Robins had said in the interview.
good old JH back in full force, 2 in 2 days.Angus Gunn rumour on twitter. 12 month contract. Good back up, cover for a year?

For record, AG would be better than Wilson and Collins - he had an outstanding season 2 years ago, year Norwich reached play offs v Leeds. However really fell off cliff last year. Again just for argument sake - couldn't see him taking a 12month deal.
Let’s assume there’s any truth to it.View attachment 44562not a JH promise just yetwill be soon tho
Well he's definitely an upgrade on Wilson and Collins that's for sure, could be true could not be as its JH but I'm sure things are happening and have been for a whileLet’s assume there’s any truth to it.
Why only 12 months? Would imagine it would be two or even three at a push?
Cus he’s shitLet’s assume there’s any truth to it.

Thomas started with Hamer v Leicester and Milan came on. Hamer left about 10 days later.Hadn't Milan, Sakamoto and Thomas signed before Hamer left?
To prove himself maybe?Let’s assume there’s any truth to it.

Likewise , I've never understood the Gunn lovein on here . Mediocre keeper at bestCus he’s shit
Well that's a massive upgrade for us then.Mediocre keeper at best
Put a bid in for Ederson at Man CityThe problem is we don't just want a keeper. We want them to act as a playmaker from the back, be good with their feet and hands, stop shots, command the box and so on. Does what we want exist?

fell off a cliff in 12 months .. what, we usually do that to keepers after they have joined us!good old JH back in full force, 2 in 2 days.

Wouldn't read too much into it. It's pre-season, a tiny niggle will mean they won't risk playing someone. Doesn't mean they won't be moved on, just that not appearing in a friendly means nothing in terms of whether players are in plans. So no Collins, binks, Bassette again today - wonder if things are happening.
What’s the story @Jimmy87 ?So no Collins, binks, Bassette again today - wonder if things are happening.
