In my opinion keeping Thomas, Milan, Grimes, Rudoni, EMC and Tatsu would be a priority. These would be the hardest players to improve on not just replace. The improvement in the squad has to come from the others, it's harder work but it has to be that way otherwise you stand still.

Lots of good free agents out there that would improve us so it's just wait and see. But Dolan is one that comes to mind straight away I'd be pushing the boat out for. He adds quality and would be an improvement on Simms, BTA and Pato. Pay him he would be worth it, Bundu is another would improve our squad and is better than the 3 named. We simply have to wheel and deal and work twice as hard as others this summer, it's the only way we stay a top 6 side.

Using your own argument we could potentially sell Milan and replace with 3 good full backs and still have half the money left over

I agree. However, finding clubs to take some of our non performing high earners is going to be the biggest problem we face this summer.
Who's going to pay us the money we would want for Simms and Wright, AND pay them similar wages to what they are "earning" here??
In terms of finances, I think doug really pushed the boat out to get BTA last year, and then he backed Lampard with the addition of Grimes in January, so I'd be very suprised if a major signing spree is about to happen.
It may well be the case that the fortcoming Gyokeres windfall has already been allocated to cover the signing of Grimes.

Maybe we should be looking at the loan market for a couple of options.

Yeah but the problem is none of them are as good as Milan, let’s hope they can live up to how good he is, I wouldn’t be cashing in for anything less than 15 million, it’s worth the risk to get us over the line next season

The improvement in the squad has to be financed by selling one of our best players ….

It's the model, we need to trust the process, we sign very few duds now a days and they tend to be players that management/staff wanted/worked with before.

What if he’s Milan without the mistakes, would be gutted if he left, but could be better defensively, this could be an upgrade,

I'd be gutted if Milan goes but at some point it'll be inevitable that he does, Kesler-Hayden as replacement could turn out to be a brilliant signing.

Leeds signed Bogle from Sheffield United for 5 million quid which I thought was too much and didn't even rate him, even Sheffield fans couldn't believe they got that much for him and even said they mugged Leeds off but he turned out a class signing for them, so could be similar sort of situation.

This is the time to sell Milan with 2 years left on his deal and Kessler Hayden seems about a good a replacement as you could ask for.

Agree. Any star players in this model we operate you’ve got to cash in at the optimal point and keep reinvesting to keep increasing the standard and value of the squad. That model stops once you hit the Premiership.

IF mVE goes, it will be £10million (minimum) plus sell on - we don’t have to sell, it’s on our terms , DK is a slick negotiator. MVE is at height of value.

Doubling money on player in 2 years, that’s the business model - like it or not!

as good as MvE is, he is still raw defensively, pace gets him out of trouble a lot. It would not be end of the world.

I don’t know if that back pass would put him at ‘the height of his value’

If we’re after KKH we’ll face stiff competition maybe even from newly promoted or lower prem clubs. Would be an excellent deal if we turned a profit in the deal in terms of the sale of MVE. KKH would be a slight upgrade for me, especially defensively. And, of course, adheres to our overarching transfer policy of getting as many double barrelled names in as possible.

You dont know that they are not. Fans become attached to popular players, which i totally understand, but they all have a selling point and price. All also can be improved on in different ways.

It is managing the turnover, personally think we might end up with 50m in the kitty but needing to find 9 players. Collins has to move for his own sanity, move down a league. MVE consensus has been for a while he is going. I personally think Binks and Lati need to go. We need 4 CB each capable of been competitive starters. No info on Allen but appears he will be released. Sheaf every expects to go. Wright looks in demand so likely to go, Simms not sure what's going on but would be surprised if he is here in August.

As such we need 1GK, 2 RB, 1LB, 2CB, 1 mid, 1 rudonincover, 1 rf, 1 CF and 1 LF. We could be very busy. Be interesting what happens in that short initial transfer window

I’ve realised under king we can let go easier. Losing Hamer and O’Hare has been easier becuase her didn’t replace them has been free transfers.

We now have Rudoni.

I’ve got faith in Lampard and King to replace MVE.

£15 million it on the region of is absolutely too good to refuse for a player who deserves his shot at a top league. If we can get a good replacement for circa £5 million and still have circa £10 million then that’s a cracking deal, not that we will ever get to know the actual figures involved 😂. (Not should we really!)
Could we get Tom Cairney as part of the package?

Increasingly feels like MvE and Wright are on their way out this summer. That’s the model, you can’t get too attached, two years is about the most you can expect from quality at this level if you don’t go up.

Id imagine Lampard wants money to spend to build the squad in his image. Just need King to get decent deals quickly or bridge the gap.

All in could easily have £25-30m if Vik, MvE, Wright, Sheaf and some fringe players all leave. As we saw it’s enough to buy a whole squad but we are in a much better position elsewhere than we were in 2023. With some smart signings I think we could push to a top four challenge.
