Gonna be long few weeks with a lot of tedious writing about MVE and Rudoni in particular!

Good old days better, Sunday morning papers and some roque calling up on club call at £5 a second to hear cov are linked with Robert Jarni……

Tbf I think Lampard might be thinking "I got top 6 with this squad". I dont think there will be as big of a turnover as people expect, other than the potentially big bids for MVE/Wright
Lampard mentioned a couple of times about the need to make the squad bigger (was used as the justification for bringing in Paterson etc) so I would expect to see quite a few additions no matter what. I think he’s used to/prefers working with a bigger group.

With this, if we are to be making the squad bigger I hope we take a proper succession planning view and bring in others in the profile of Bassette.

If we actually do want to “start quickly and maintain it all season” as people keep asking we’ll need a squad a similar size to the parachute clubs who manage that.

I do wonder what Dougs internal wage cap is. We are some way behind on that even if “only” £40-50m off in squad value.

Losing MvE will be a hard one to cover. He is obviously a great player at this level but he also seems to be the life and soul of the party in all the unseen videos. I'll miss him and I don't even know the guy 😭

As for this talk of keepers, first we need to bin off Collins, best for both parties at this point. He needs to rebuild elsewhere. Then as Dovin is crocked we need a starter who will know he might lose his spot once Dovin is fit. Almost impossible to sell that to anyone. I guess our options are go big again on a top prospect and let them duke it out when they are both fit. Or could we find an older pro and sweeten the deal with a coaching role alongside playing and ready to step into when they retire. Frank must have some names in his rollerdex.

Don’t think there’s anything in this but on a wider point we must keep Rudoni. He’s now one of the players we build the team around. Say no to anything under £25m.
I just don't think he goes this summer. He has bromance with Lampard. He's loved here and has started to really thrive after a slowish start under Robins. Why would he be so keen to move, when hed have another settling in period? He could rip it up next year, at 22 time is fully on his side and ours. Just don't see it especially when we have other assets to sell and other revenue coming in.

Edit: been pointed out to me he's in fact nearly 24 😔 bugger

Agree with all of this except he’s 24 next month.

Club will stay really quiet and just get on with business, no need to pay attention to noise. If offers are real and equal the clubs evaluation we will know. Rudi and Milan combined are worth a lot of money but bring in a few 1st and sit in the driving seat regarding values.

Its going to be mental on this forum for a month and cant wait to see the madness unfold. i have started to trust how they recruit and how FL and his coaches evaluate players. So im happy to wait and see what happens.

Shit where did I get that from 😆 best jump at the first offer he gets then, basically geriatric.

I suppose that does maybe change things a bit, say he did stick another season.. do many players move iup to the Prem from the Championship after 25ish? Could do it with us getting promoted but is a gamble.

Really pissed on my chips actually.. thanks

Rudi won't leave, but if anyone was serious about getting him 25 million minimum to even get round the table then they'd have to add a hell of alot more on top of that.

I think we will recruit quality players this summer tho, I'd like a few Japanese players like Kodai Sano in that no 10 role and either Ayase Ueda (might be a hard one to pull off) or Koki Ogawa as one of the striker options would be good, like the look of Benjamin Pauwels that was posted on here, off that left wing with electric pace and trickery, but definitely look towards the Europe market for players aswell as some from over here.

The spine of the team is critical, as we need a goalkeeper , a true leader of a centre half & ultimately a goal scorer of a striker !
If Frank is allowed loans , to bridge these 3 gaps , plus the other reinforcements, I hope Doug’s transfer kitty going to be big enough ?

I agree. However, finding clubs to take some of our non performing high earners is going to be the biggest problem we face this summer.
Who's going to pay us the money we would want for Simms and Wright, AND pay them similar wages to what they are "earning" here??
In terms of finances, I think doug really pushed the boat out to get BTA last year, and then he backed Lampard with the addition of Grimes in January, so I'd be very suprised if a major signing spree is about to happen.
It may well be the case that the fortcoming Gyokeres windfall has already been allocated to cover the signing of Grimes.

Maybe we should be looking at the loan market for a couple of options.
Absolute madness that you think there arent clubs who would want Wright. Said it before, will say it again, every club in the league would want him.

We signed Simms for 3m with the rest being add ons, could we find someone else who would spend that on him? Absolutely.

Also for the record I'd 100% keep Wright. I feel like the recency bias has done him dirty. Yes he's been shit since his hat trick but he is a proven scorer at our level. Only a few months ago people were worried we'd lose him in the summer to a pre WC move.

We are going to have to rebuild our strike force but I think it would be mad to scrap it all and start from zero. People say we need to start quickly next year but that ain't happening if all our player needs bedding in. He's pretty versatile can cover striker but I'd aim to play him on the left, seems more natural out there. Him and EMC have that side covered, gives us room to improve elsewhere.

100% he needs strong competition to keep him on his toes but also to give us different options vs different opposition.
+ if he has another injury next year…

We need to buy and reinvest to continue to grow. Pretty much our entire squad is funded by the Gyok and Hamer sales

If any of the bids are big enough, and we can reinvest on 5-6 decent new players- we have to do it. It's our model- and helps further improve our strength in depth

Wright is a curious case

Lampard wants wingers who have close control and can whip dangerous balls into the box, and a physical striker who can press from the front, hold up the ball, and get on the end of crosses

Wright fits neither of these roles but you can’t argue with his goals per min
