We obviously have a defensive issue. Dasilva is terrible defensively (and was all the way through to seasons end). Bidwell is just the wrong side of the hill. MVE is also poor defensively. Teams get in behind us and we concede lots of stupid goals. Our CH’s are par for the course in the champ. It’s the FB upgrade we need.
A very odd take on MVE and the latter part of Da Silvas season.

Wilson, Collins, Binks, Lats JDS, Bidwell, Allen, Simms and BTA are players i think we can easily improve on. If we can start in the market by getting in a LB and moving 1 or 2 on before the 1 st window closes its a good start. Lets hope we hear from FL soon to give us an idea on the plans .

Just not true on Da Silva. His defensive work was much better in his last run in the team until his red

You’ve just answered your own question. It’s a terrible shout because he got 12 this year, 6 the year before, 5 the year before that - partly because of an ACL and shock he hasn’t come back anywhere near the same.

Honestly, people want rid of Simms and Wright then want people like Riis. Baffles me.
.
The amount of goals he got in a season is just a temporary statistic, it's his quality on the ball. He's got a far better touch than Simms and would be able to get involved in the game more.

Good player is Riis and on a free aswell, no brainer for me plus if we signed him at least he won't score against us when we play Preston lol.

I also rate their number 10 Mads Frokjaer, really good player

Dasilva was equally poor defensively at the end as he was during. He had better games but defensively was still so easy to get in behind. MVE gets out of lots of positional messes with his pace and is slow to close down crosses. The fact we concede a lot of silly goals is indisputable.

its nothing to do with the fullbacks in the system we play.

Even if we dont sell Sheaf I’d want an all action box to box player, there’s been times where Sheaf was needed as a double pivot with Grimes however there’s been times where we’ve needed someone slightly different I’d like Thelo Aasgaard to be our CM signing and he could potentially be our Rudoni replacement if we dont go up too

your argument only works if the opposition only plays against us on the counter.

If they are dominating possession then yes the fullbacks are culpable when defending too.

I don’t think playing the low block is our issue against Luton we did it OK. It’s that it’s too easy to beat us by drawing us out and hitting us on the break.

Work with a PNE ST holder, he reckons he’s always on the fringe of games and goes missing 4 games out of 5, also thinks we have a skewed view of him as he’s played well against us.

I think the defensive issues are more nuanced than you suggest though. Kitching didn't even get in the team until December-ish did he? How do our defensive stats compare to other teams when Thomas and Kitching started in a back 4 together?

Sample size is very small and made me realise how little we actually got to play the back 5 Lampard would've wanted

Kitch & Thomas playing in a 4 with Dovin in goal under Lampard:

Games: 5
Goals Conceded: 7
Clean Sheet : 1

Not great tbf - especially as we played Preston, Oxford, Stoke & Derby in that run (conceded 2 against the latter 3). Only clean sheet was against Sunderland

Kitch & Thomas in a back 4:

Games: 10
Goals Conceded: 12
Clean Sheet: 3

Got slightly better with Collins/Wilson in goal if you'd believe it

Whenever I've seen him he been good mate , thing is he's playing in a poor team and if he came to us it be a different story as he'll be playing in a good team, remember what the Huddersfield fans said Rudi?

Yep. I guess his ‘quality on the ball’ is what helped Preston to a 20th place finish.

It’s goals we need ffs.

I can’t help but feel that the negatives that their fans talk about are very similar to the issues we currently have with our strikers, add to that he’s had an ACL. Only positive is he’s a free but I’d not be overjoyed if he was our starting no.9.

Riis has scored more goals then Simms and BTA combined in a team who don't create very much and are piss poor, in our team he'd get more, he's more mobile then Simms and has better control of the ball so I'd have him in the team, he doesn't have to be the only source of goals for us.

Vik wasn't very prolific before he signed permanently then went on to bang in goals for us and now for fun playing in Portugal. Riis would be a good signing

While I agree with this can we please stop pretending Viks existence means any striker might become world class?
