99.9% of people that had an issue with our window would take nearly all of Sheff U’s last 3 windows signings over our’s.

That’s not always how the Championship work’s. We are in infinitely better shape than Sheff U, whether we have more “inferior” individual players or not.

It’s not inevitable, as many will make you believe, that signing 6 top top players in a summer window will get you over the line, again not how the Championship works.

Time to draw a line on the transfer window now maybe? Move on with what we do have and build a run of form and a connection between fans and the players we do have.

The Championship front runners will nearly always be the teams with the deeper, “better” squads, of course - but there are always 3 or 4 teams who challenge that status quo.

Having 7 or 8 quality starters, a unified fan base with the players and manager, a bit of luck, goals can put you right in the mix - our summer activity success rate opinion or not aside, all of these things in what I list are already there or are within our “control”.

I haven't heard anything to be honest.

Agree there with what you said about the stadium being the most important purchase. Looking back over the window, it wasn't really a disappointing one, i think it's clear we were trying.
Losing Sheaf at the last minute was probably a shock to some people, coupled with a tense last day of the window, possibly left people feeling a bit deflated.
It may not have been a position we were looking at filling this summer, but i've got faith in Eccles to fill that gap for now. (I know some people don't rate him)
I'd love to see us aiming to bring in a progressive midfielder in January.

With regards to the winger, it seems from an outside point of view that we waited all summer on Fulham, if that's the case, it's very naive.
We've looked at Rak-Sakyi in the past so i'm not surprised we tried last minute for him, seemed like too little time to get anything done obviously. A shame really as i think thats one area where we were desperate for some real depth.
Can only hope they are already putting plans in place for January.

It's tough, can't complain with what we are trying to do, but sometimes i think it's not unfair to wonder if we need another body in and around the transfer side of things, i've heard some people on match day's questioning whether Austin is out of his depth. I've no idea what his true role is, but maybe if we are looking at shaping up to Premier league pushing sides, then we may need to see an addition of a Director with higher experience in that department in the near future.

Hi @Jimmy87, are you hinting that the DoF is well progressed or expressing an opinion ? I thought it was slightly odd that Doug didn’t answer a question on this (given I assume multiple people will have asked the question ) and I wondered whether it was because he didn’t want speculation ahead of an appointment ….

JRS joined Turkish side on loan for the season, so can scrap that for Jan.

I guess depends if they can recall it, as if they can then they could bring him back once they knew a sale was going to happen like the Sobra Thomas rumours from last season.

No, i haven't heard anything about something being well progressed. Just my own opinion based on chatter.
I think that it would be a natural progression for us though, given the way we are constantly improving on everything, the coaching staff, buying the ground, building a squad on long contracts with profitable players etc, we are laying the right foundations for a club that is ready to move up a notch. A good, experienced DoF would be a positive move.

From Lampard’s pre-match interview yesterday:

“You have to keep your best players if you want to succeed, or you have to have incredible succession plans and at this point that’s not exactly where we’re at”

Not entirely sure who (if anyone) that’s aimed at, but seems a little more pointed than usual…

I can’t imagine Lampard is particularly happy with how the summer window went.

I would really like to know how many forward players we were in for during the transfer window and why prospective deals fell through. None of us will ever know for sure I guess.

Disappointing yes but without full facts we will never know why. I do seriously question Dean Austin.

It's Austins job to recruit , King's to negotiate the deals. Kings fault if he failed in that respect but we don't know if that was the case or selling clubs wanted stupid money.

Ben Sheaf excellent for Wrexham today by all accounts.

At least we had Jamie Allen off the bench though.

Yes exactly, I'd have liked to have seen some of that spent on a replacement.

Hopefully we do in January.

Don't worry. That £6.5m is earning interest until January

Sheaf wouldn’t have got in today and wasn’t very dynamic as a sub a bit like Simms

I suspect he won't be excellent when he's inevitably injured for 15+ games and working his way back to fitness for a further 15 games.

To be expected - Sheaf is an excellent player - but does he get in ahead of Grimes?

he wouldn’t have been happy to be a bench player - was a good move for all

Generally like Eccles, but if he puts a bit less energy into bitching at the ref and a bit more into his game, he might get some more minutes.

Thought Allen and Eccles did fine off the bench didn't really weaken the team as we moved through a different stage of the game and kept the pressure up.

People seem to lose their minds over us playing them forgetting they played last season and we got to the play offs. They aren't some no talent muppets.

He isn't good enough for us anymore.

Funny that whilst we played Leicester you were busy watching him.

Like with your politics, you once again qualify as a genuine cuckold.
