First Ings, now Doucare. What’s the obsession with signing old guys who are looking for one last pay day? Have we learned nothing from the likes of Tim Sherwood?

Hardly an obsession. Just wondered if it's possible we are in for him

And bout wrong with one of two oldies who can still do it.

You need a mix in any team.

Doucare is out of our league but Frank signed Thiago Silva when was over 35 so he clearly values experience as well as youth.

Schlupp can do better than us more like. 33 apps for Palace & Celtic this season, I'd take him in a heartbeat on a free.

'He disrespected me' - Lampard made mistake with me, says Everton ace

FRANK LAMPARD has been slammed by Everton star Abdoulaye Doucoure who felt he was “disrespected” by his former boss. Doucoure fell out of Lampard’s plans at the beginning of the 2…

Think it’s fair to say we aren’t signing him lol

Not even June yet and Milan, Haji, Rudi & Lampard all linked with moves away, it’s going to be a long summer Guess it’s a sign of how far we have come to have for these jornos to waste their time with fake stories

Most of our players have at least two seasons of championship experience. This notion we need to sign experience is a fallacy now. All of our starters are experienced, established championship players

It’s such a ridiculous suggestion isn’t it. He’s not going to drop his wages by 40K a week to play for us

Signing guys in their 30s and breaking the wage structure is not the way to do it either. Only the parachute wankers and the clubs with wealthy owners offer the wages these 30 something players would want.

There is a place for proven quality with the right leadership skills coming towards the end of their careers …. Brighton have constantly done this … Milner, Wellbeck; lallana etc ….

Maybe if we can persuade Luis Binks to help subsidise the deal?

Our highest championship finish up until recent success was inspired by Dennis Wise.

Yeh you don't want to end up with a squad riddled with overpaid old mercenaries, but there's definitely something to be said for getting one carefully selected one in. Usually prefer the older heads in centre mid, not sure why.

I read that Doucoure is one of their highest paid players. They've offered him an extension on reduced terms and he's knocked them back. Definitely not one for us.

Ben Mee released by Brentford, I’d imagine he’d go to one of the relegated teams or back to Burnley though.

Has there been any chat about how Lampard feels about recruitment and his involvement in the process?

Reading between the lines Robins was happy with scout-led signings but had a few of his own picks too (Kitch, BTA, Binks, Rudoni)

Wonder if we’ll see something similar this summer

Doucoure leaving Everton and being formally managed by lampard at Everton. Wondered if possible link up again at cov perhaps

Clearly not based on wages and the article where he slams lampard.

Always rated him, maybe it just went stale at the baggies and he needs a fresh start, tricky and quick so would add to the attacking areas

Fair enough. Lashing out at him as you made a mistake was a bit uncalled for though!

I was just wondering if it was a possibility that's all.

If we can get him on say maximum 8/10k/wk would be a decent deal

I think we need to be looking for better players. Not that he is bad, but wingers and forwards (given the systems reliance on them) need to be where we invest in real quality Not padding out the squad.

I agree but as an experienced player in this division and backup to Saka on a cheap wage it would be a good idea if we cant get other targets like maybe Dolan or something (not saying we’re in for Dolan just a thought)

Towards the end of the window I would agree. Maybe I am being foolishly optimistic but I am hoping we will sign players who are noticeably better than what we have I.e. Grimes was clearly a cut above Eccles, Allen etc in the role he plays for us than anyone else at the club.
