First Ings, now Doucare. What’s the obsession with signing old guys who are looking for one last pay day? Have we learned nothing from the likes of Tim Sherwood?

Hardly an obsession. Just wondered if it's possible we are in for him

And bout wrong with one of two oldies who can still do it.

Not even June yet and Milan, Haji, Rudi & Lampard all linked with moves away, it’s going to be a long summer 😂 Guess it’s a sign of how far we have come to have for these jornos to waste their time with fake stories

You need a mix in any team.

Doucare is out of our league but Frank signed Thiago Silva when was over 35 so he clearly values experience as well as youth.
Most of our players have at least two seasons of championship experience. This notion we need to sign experience is a fallacy now. All of our starters are experienced, established championship players

How many have experienced getting promotion from the championship ?

There is a place for proven quality with the right leadership skills coming towards the end of their careers …. Brighton have constantly done this … Milner, Wellbeck; lallana etc ….

Our highest championship finish up until recent success was inspired by Dennis Wise.

I read that Doucoure is one of their highest paid players. They've offered him an extension on reduced terms and he's knocked them back. Definitely not one for us.

Has there been any chat about how Lampard feels about recruitment and his involvement in the process?

Reading between the lines Robins was happy with scout-led signings but had a few of his own picks too (Kitch, BTA, Binks, Rudoni)

Wonder if we’ll see something similar this summer

Doucoure leaving Everton and being formally managed by lampard at Everton. Wondered if possible link up again at cov perhaps

Clearly not based on wages and the article where he slams lampard.
Fair enough. Lashing out at him as you made a mistake was a bit uncalled for though!

I think we need to be looking for better players. Not that he is bad, but wingers and forwards (given the systems reliance on them) need to be where we invest in real quality Not padding out the squad.
I agree but as an experienced player in this division and backup to Saka on a cheap wage it would be a good idea if we cant get other targets like maybe Dolan or something (not saying we’re in for Dolan just a thought)

Towards the end of the window I would agree. Maybe I am being foolishly optimistic but I am hoping we will sign players who are noticeably better than what we have I.e. Grimes was clearly a cut above Eccles, Allen etc in the role he plays for us than anyone else at the club.
