Absolute madness that you think there arent clubs who would want Wright. Said it before, will say it again, every club in the league would want him.

We signed Simms for 3m with the rest being add ons, could we find someone else who would spend that on him? Absolutely.
That's not what I said.

I said, who would pay us the money that we would want.

We are unlikely to sell Wright without bringing in enough money to replace him.
If Doug thinks that it would cost £15million to replace him. (Purely as an example) then how many clubs are realistically going to pay that?

You are presuming that we would accept £3million for Simms, purely because that's what we paid upfront 2 years ago. how do you know what Doug would accept? And how do you know what clauses Everton still have in his transfer deal? Again, you are presuming that selling him would just get us out of any further payments.

Also he's rumoured to be earning £25k per week, how many clubs in the Championship would pay that for a striker who only managed 6 league goals?

If we do make £10 million on mve/kkh “, a decent cut on viks move and then get our money back on wright I would be going to Norwich and man city and getting josh sargeant and callum doyle in.
Keeper wise, someone with experience in a loan or a year contract.
I would consider letting Binks, one of BTA or Simms go too and look to get another forward in

Throwing a name in the hat for a possible new keeper..... Leyton Orient keeper Josh Keeley. Seen him a few times this season and been impressed...

Anybody got realistic targets you want bringing in?

On loan from Spurs. Could see him come in on loan next season.

Jimmy Dunne or Harry Darling.
Lewis O Brien ( Sheaf replacement).
Sobra Thomas (back up) or Tyler Goodrham (Starter).
Yousef Salech.

Think most of them are realistic although wages could be an issue of for O Brien. Assuming Salech comes with a large fee. On Thomas as feel it’s controversial but he’s got a good cross on him and takes on his man. With us being cross focused, could do with our back up being able to play both wings and put a good ball in. Should be cheap as last year of contract as well. Plus knows a few in the squad (Dasilva, Andrews and Rudon).

Sorba Thomas would be nowhere near interesting me if we want to be fighting up the top end of the table

I think as a back up who can come on and impact games, he would be a good low price option. All depends I guess on if EMC and Sakamoto start next season as the starting wingers. If we want to improve on them annd not just improve depth, would agree we need better. Although wasnt he close to signing in January?

I like that list apart from Thomas, but maybe someone like Djeidi Gassama from Sheffield Wednesday or Tyrhys Dolan from Blackburn for that right side.

If we sell Sheaf I’d like to see one or two of these to replace him:
Adem Zorgane
Michal Sadilek
Antoni Kozubal
Lasse Berg Johnsen
Patrick Berg

Dolan is a quality player plus he had a strong end to the season for them, I like the look of Patrick Berg and Lasse Berg Johnsen from your list, I wanted us to sign either of them last year

Fair enough. Didn’t think about his wages to be fair. If the ITKs are to be believed, I wonder what we previously offered him

Dolan may still develop but I think he lacks quality, at least when I have seen him play. He runs around a lot and certainly puts in an effort but not great end product. However, surprised to hear he had 13 goal involvements.

There is a massive lack of decent No 9's. Half the Prem teams need one including most of the top 6. Seems to be one of those positions that's gone out of fashion in favour of more skilful smaller forwards.

I think some don't understand that. You only have to read some posters imaginary transfer dealings and it is clear they have no understanding of economics and how contracts and the transfer system and loans system works.

I agree. However, finding clubs to take some of our non performing high earners is going to be the biggest problem we face this summer.
Who's going to pay us the money we would want for Simms and Wright, AND pay them similar wages to what they are "earning" here??
In terms of finances, I think doug really pushed the boat out to get BTA last year, and then he backed Lampard with the addition of Grimes in January, so I'd be very suprised if a major signing spree is about to happen.
It may well be the case that the fortcoming Gyokeres windfall has already been allocated to cover the signing of Grimes.

Maybe we should be looking at the loan market for a couple of options.

Quality loans can actually be an expensive option with team building. They are a short term fix and offer no return on your investment. Unless they get you promoted, but Middlesbrough and Hull have found out that is not a given in recent seasons.

Imagine he’d want to be a number one mind. Makes an awkward conversation when Dovin comes back. Quite liked the idea of a half season loan for the Orient keeper from Tottenham which was on here

Dovin might not be match ready for sometime even after his expected recovery time. We don't know how he will react to the injury. Also he can't gripe too much if we bring in a quality keeper while he is out injured. Dovin was still developing before his injury rather than being a nailed on starter week in week out.

I rate Dovin and think he is a great prospect. But with a long term injury we are not obliged to preserve his first team shirt for him while he is out injured.

I get that, my worry isn’t this season so much it’s next when Dovin comes back and we have an expensive back up wages wise.

Argument sake let’s say it’s Gunn on a three year. We’d be paying a fortune in wages for a player we’d have on the bench in either Dovin or Gunn.

Where as a season long loan, means we get cheaper cover while Dovin gets to recover and then we Dovin to start next season with Wilson covering (or even Bell).

But if you have two quality goalkeepers you have the option of selling one and getting a return on your investment. Loans are just dead money. The problem arises when you make a bad buy like Collins.

I would expect plenty of interest in Wright at that price.

If Simms is as bad as you seem to think he is then you will have to take a haircut on his transfer fee and wages but there will still be interested buyers and he will certainly generate funds.
