Sure just give all these willing buyers a quick ring and have it sorted in a day....

Or just don’t keep offering players who are old and nowhere near the first team extended contracts 🤷🏻‍♂️

Bidwell was automatic based on appearances. Nice try though

Was he though? And Allen? And Eccles? And the bids we’ve turned down for BTA for example? The fact MvE is still hanging around.

Having Vik and Gus as his first sales an O’Hare leaving for free has skewed Doug’s view on transfers and now we’re stuck because he thinks he should be making bank on everyone and no one should ever leave

I don't get the issue with a new contract for Eccles

1 player yes. Bidwell was an automatic extension and any other player was a new signing. So back to my original point...
What original point? I actually agree with Shmmeee (not the 9 player summer bit, I see 6 or 7 as more reasonable/realistic), I think Doug is pricing them out, they would absolutely get moves if you were essentially giving them away, which we should.

People wanted to give Bink away for next to nothing and he got £2.5m for him

If this were true the Grimes signing doesn’t happen

We should have snapped the hand off with the BTA bid. Hard to see that coming around again.
Don't agree on Eccles, he holds value if we were to sell so it's a good re-new whichever way you look at it.

Binks is a lot younger. I'd have hoped for money back, making a profit was stunning business tbf. Not sure I see much coming in for Bidwell and Allen in particular as we seem to be talking about those.
Even you admitted you'd rather have Andrews than Allen right now didn't you?

Oh yes I thought you were referring to BTA.

Bidwell and Allen we should be just looking to move them on for pennies.

BTA I still think we can get £2-£3m for him regardless of what posters on here think, same for Simms.

OK yeh I think we broadly agree then.

I think the BTA bid was rumoured about £3.5m but I could be remembering wrong. Probably looking at more £2.5m now I would think.

I just think you can’t both hoard players in case they’re worth something and tell your manager he has a tiny wage budget to make things work. Eccles, BTA, Simms, Bassette, Bidwell, Allen farting about the training ground and KKH sat with his feet up waiting for MvE to pack mean were short all over of first team quality.

I don't think Eccles is worth what some on here do but as things stand he's someone who will play plenty, especially with captain twig legs out again. A solid if unspectacular player who either plays or will fetch a couple of million if Lampard wants to flip.
Bidwell and Allen, as I've said, give them away for peanuts.
The strikers are difficult, you're talking about a combined £10 million you can't just write off. I agree we should be looking at selling all 3 of those but we need to get back the highest value possible. You may well be looking at them being end of window panic buys.

In an ideal window you get rid of Eccles and replace him with better, but its quite clear this isnt going to be an ideal window.

An ideal window from this point is shifting on
1 keeper
Bidwell
Allen
Simms/BTA
Bassette

and getting in a CB, CM, Striker and Winger

Yep I'd go along with that. Whilst recognising I'll probably end up disappointed.

Need 3 in before the window shuts, but to get that 4 or 5 may have to be moved on. That is a big ask and something i cant see happening. Some of those on decent contracts will be tough to find interested clubs

With losing Binks we should be looking to sign someone without anyone moving. I'm surprised we haven't signed someone already

I think if I'm being positive I'm saying we're looking at a good standard of player so it's harder to get the deal done. The worry is if those deals we're working on don't actually get done at all.

Appreciate there’s three weeks of the window to go but feel flat about it as things stand. Feels like we’re waiting for Milan to move to spend but the closer it gets to deadline day the more the price of targets goes up.

Can’t believe Lampard is happy with the squad and would expect he was promised backing when he joined.

Wilson, Bidwell and Allen all had contract extensions

Let’s say you manage to get £200k for each of them at best but they are all on £6k a week each, if you hold them for over half a year you’ve not made anything and you should have just let them go for free

Stop the bedwetting some of you, we only need 2 or 3 more additions our squad is shaping up well. If we sign 6/7 players we need to sell and none of them would have had a pre-season so we’d need a slow start yet again. Against Hull the only thing stopping us was clinicality, we definitely need a CB and RW, anything else is to replace outgoings (minus if Bidwell left as we already have his replacement)

Would they not have had pre season with their own teams?

Any signings now would be backups to start with so lack of pre season isn't huge
