Reims are a small club considering. They now play in what is League 2. They are not a big club. As you know I live in France. They would be considered an average Championship side at best. Lens finished in 8th last season. Won 15 games.out of 34. They have some good sides but other than the top sides it's very mediocre. The top.'sport' here is hunting. Football comes 2nd. I have a couple of parcels of woodland that came with my house and the chasse have the right to hunt on it. I'm supposed to get a % of any wild boar if caught on my land.

Like I said he managed one big club in France for one season. If we had got him instead of Lampard we would have gone ballistic. Never been a pro footballer. One season at a decent French side.

I presume you mean in the village where you live? I can't picure the inhabitants of the populous communes in Paris and Marseille donning their hunting gear for a weekend jaunt :)

There's a lot of hunting where I live. Wherever you get wild boar and deer you get hunters. The wild boar are dangerous. The first time I saw one running through an open field after doing an emergency stop to miss it surprised me. They can run at speed but when you see them they don't even look capable of running at any speed. The wildlife here is so different to the UK. Was playing cricket a couple of weeks ago and there was a big eagle circling above us for ages. Snakes are not an unusual sight.

Pressed further to see if there are funds there for him to recruit, or whether the club have to sell to bring new players in, he said: “I don’t think that’s a question for me to answer at this point. We’ll try and help with the squad if we can. It’s not a conversation of this number or that number. Transfer windows are generally fluid.”

As for whether he has a figure in his head of how many players he would like to bring in in the remaining weeks of the window, he replied: “Yes, but there’s no point in going into any more detail until they’re here. If they’re not here, they’re not our player.”

He added: “I like our players and we want to keep them, specifically the best ones because football will always be about players and the squad and, of course, you always understand a version of the parameters you’re working in but you want the best players and you want to push for that.

“That’s part of my job to push for that and to improve because you can’t sit still in this game.”

In the past the club have sold high profile players for big money in order to replenish the squad. Milan van Ewijk has been linked with interest from a number of clubs including Besiktas, Wolfsburg and Wolves, while Jack Rudoni is claimed to have been the subject of a bid from Southampton amid reported interest from Newcastle.

Asked if he’s hopeful of keeping those players, Lampard said: “Yeah, and again, it’s why my line to you is that to add to a rumour mill would be not doing my job properly, I think.”
