He was class that game.

Palace bought two players when Derby was in turmoil. There was that striker we were linked with taking from Palace on loan, how’s he gone since then?

There's a lot of hunting where I live. Wherever you get wild boar and deer you get hunters. The wild boar are dangerous. The first time I saw one running through an open field after doing an emergency stop to miss it surprised me. They can run at speed but when you see them they don't even look capable of running at any speed. The wildlife here is so different to the UK. Was playing cricket a couple of weeks ago and there was a big eagle circling above us for ages. Snakes are not an unusual sight.

Pressed further to see if there are funds there for him to recruit, or whether the club have to sell to bring new players in, he said: “I don’t think that’s a question for me to answer at this point. We’ll try and help with the squad if we can. It’s not a conversation of this number or that number. Transfer windows are generally fluid.”

As for whether he has a figure in his head of how many players he would like to bring in in the remaining weeks of the window, he replied: “Yes, but there’s no point in going into any more detail until they’re here. If they’re not here, they’re not our player.”

He added: “I like our players and we want to keep them, specifically the best ones because football will always be about players and the squad and, of course, you always understand a version of the parameters you’re working in but you want the best players and you want to push for that.

“That’s part of my job to push for that and to improve because you can’t sit still in this game.”

In the past the club have sold high profile players for big money in order to replenish the squad. Milan van Ewijk has been linked with interest from a number of clubs including Besiktas, Wolfsburg and Wolves, while Jack Rudoni is claimed to have been the subject of a bid from Southampton amid reported interest from Newcastle.

Asked if he’s hopeful of keeping those players, Lampard said: “Yeah, and again, it’s why my line to you is that to add to a rumour mill would be not doing my job properly, I think.”

Hope Leicester get him. No better than Simms BTA or Wright. Probably a slight upgrade on Bassette.

Disagree. I haven't seen much of him but he looked a real physical presence - something that we don't have up front and a quality that would make a big difference.

Kone is too like for like. We are a championship side and need upgrades, if any, like this young fella from Hull at CB. Our fowards are stll relatively young, young enough to still use the word potential with them, but there comes a time when they have to step up to the plate.
Norman, is said to have potential, but sorry I have not seen it. He is 20/21 so has a few years of probability/possibility left with him, as many have said he needs a loan, although FL may not trust him enough to go off and play at another club and prefers to keep a watchful eye on him.
Asante, is such a good human being he is a joy and great to have around the place, every video, every team mate loves him, however, he is of an age now where he should be first choice, and that is not off the bench. It's a big season for him because he has to break through. He can score at this level but not consistantly and has to improve. If there is any coach in the league that can have an impact on him it is FL.
Simms, still young still learning, which many forget. He can definitely score goals and could, if he believes it, go onto higher things, like Viktor. He is miles too laid back (I get slightly irritated at the younger generation because their image of laid back is an older generation's lazy) I wouldn't say Simms is lazy but he appear to exude the characteristic of effortless. Again, it's good he is around FL and team because they can still bring out the best in him. We have seen it in a few games over the years when he has a physical presence the damage he causes to CBs. I would really stick with him.
Wright - possibly the best forward in the championship when he is firing and fit, which sadly is not often. He is so nearly there with ability, scoring chances and his use of his physical power. If he is firing from the beginning he could save us a fortune, and he has the ability, if we won promotion of playing in the premier, he is that good, on his day.
We don't have a poacher, we don't have a Godden which we miss. We do need others like EMC and Sakamoto to come in with goals as we do with our midfield other than Rudi. Thomas can get a few but our wider guys including left and right backs also need to chip in, some times when I watch a game I cringe at our wider players performance because they get into position and don't shoot. Many of our team lack that confidence to shoot from range, why? I do not know because i am sure they do it in training.
We are days away now from a season high in anticiation and a common goal of promotion. we supporters believe it, as we attend in our numbers, however, we can't do the work like the players, they need to believe in themselves and the project. It's a big year that will define many people's futures. Good luck to everyone.

Completely agree about our shooting from range.
Grimes had a great chance from the edge of the area in one of the friendlies and passed.
Sheaf and Eccles were shooting more but Sheaf powderpuff, Eccles off target.
Torp apparently has a good shot bur rarely uses it.
Mowbray, the old school manager told Jodi Jones to stop messing about and put his laces through it. Result, he started scoring goals.
Seems to be a modern problem. McCallum looked dangerous when shooting in our team, but don't think he did it much at Norwich or Sheff Utd.
JDS, Bidders and MVE terrible if they ever shoot. MVE occasionally has a go, but the other two I struggle to remember them having a shot. If you don't buy a ticket etc.

£25M and they can have him. But put up or shut up! Talking about other clubs players can be taken as trying to unsettle or tap up. It’s poor play, the guy literally played football manager and managed to get a job on the back of it.

In my opinion Doug seriously needs to consider cutting his losses on BTA and Simms. BTA because he simply isn't good enough and Simms because FL appears not to rate him at all . Get rid of both and buy a proper forward who fits the system.

How though!?
Who is going to think, "yeah, let's buy Simms/Asante" after their performances over the last 12 months!?

And how much of a loss do you take? Not going to let them go for free and I cannot see anyone meeting their wage demands as both would be on good contracts. We are stuck with both I’m afraid.

Unfortunately this will be difficult. I do feel that Simms has a much bigger upside but Lampard appears to be freezing him out. Agree that BTA is dreadful and has been the majority of the time

Rumour doing the rounds not sure if any truth in it but Simms has played 99 games for us and another would trigger a payment to Everton. If FL doesn't think he has a future here no point in playing him and paying the extra.

Doesn't really make sense to pick him on the bench if that was the case as taking up a space someone else could have.
