If we signed a box to box midfielder tomorrow with high energy it would be sheaf that drops out not statty

The two are too similar. I agree, we need someone who can hit the forwards earlier and someone with more about him than Torp as backup for Rudi. I just get frustrated with Grimes because he’s a) got the ball so much And b) shown he can hit those passes

He can only hit them passes when our players find a bit of space. You can't blame Grimes for what the rest of our players are doing.

Torp is turning into a good player for us and is still improving. We have other positions we need to improve on first.

Torp's powderpuff effort when he had the goal at his mercy was a bit disappointing, but summed up the finishing in general. We don't help ourselves at times

I’m optimistic Torp will have a good season this year. He stepped up massively in the 5-3-2 days and was unfortunate with injuries.

If he can improve in his goals and assists, he’ll be a starter. More long range shooting and passing from deep is what this team can miss at times.

have they? Norwich lost their best player or one of them and Sargent is still 50/50 to go.

Watford have brought in 9 players but also lost 9. Most of which will need to know the championship.

West Brom have made one decent signing. In a very average team.

we have brought in 3 quality players and sold Binks for a profit. I would say we’ve had a really good window so far.
ignore him, we could sign messi in his peak and he'd find a way to slag off king

it’ll prob be different on Saturday but seems a bit flat going into a new season, apart from the keeper we’re kicking off with the same team that finished the last one, 2 more signings would be huge

I'll take a 1 -0 win first game to get 3 points on the board. Not expecting excillerating football just yet! 3 wins out of the first 5 games will.get our rhythm in sinc👍

You say this with the conviction that this is the general consensus. It will be anything but flat at 12:30pm next Saturday (as you have acknowledged to be fair).

If we win and especially if we win well, Derby will be bouncing at kick off.

Until some of this doesn’t happen or until none of this happens next week, the vast majority (away from this forum or social media) will be thinking with reasoned hope and/or positivity.

Btw we have just drawn 2 matches with top flight european opposition , one of which beat sunderland yesterday 1-0 .

We could and should have scored 4 yesterday
Surely this is very positive stuff and not a cause for concern at all ?
I do feel like some are overreacting to our general needs as a squad
You can always improve a squad, ,but im not sure weve been in a better place as we are now over the last 25 years

Exactly, so far no major outgoings and three players that have been bought in to improve the squad. Hopefully Andrews and Raphael emerge this season to compete for places too

So many entitled supporters it's so cringey.... a few good seasons and we think we are owed marquee signings all of the time!!!!!

We have not let any of the first team go that so nearly got us to the playoff finals... just enjoy the process ffs

Sargent was always injured and Sainz was suspended a lot too

Norwich have lost 34 goals from the team

and spent accordingly to fill that void. like we did when Vik and Hamer left us 2 years ago

it’s called progression

if we want to make the next step in our progression we need a guaranteed 15 goal forward

simms too inconsistent and wright injury prone

Haji played 44 games in 23-24 that is not being injury prone. All players are going to get hurt from time to time, some more seriously than others. Some are going to get more "attention" than others too.

Godden played 41 games last season, not bad also for someone who was supposedly "injury prone". People throw that term around too easily.

If we only make 2 more signings.... I would make a cb and a box to box midfielder, feel this is what we majorly miss at this current moment

Don’t worry, it’s Captain Negative GIMOC. He’s still bitter because he can’t get a box on the cheap and he gets told no information anymore

His post essentially says that we spent accordingly to fill the voids left by Hamer and Gyokeres, so I guess that’s a positive?

Ah yes that much peddalled myth bout 15-20 goal scorers. The whole championship had just 4 of those last season.

Did he ever get told information? Still waiting for the Hamer signing a new contract announcement.

If there is one thing we deffo do not need it is a midfielder.
We could do with a ball carrying ACM in the O'Hare mould to replace one of the more defensive trio of Sheaf, Eccles or Allen.

But we have more pressing issues first.

I'd say
CB (preferable left sided with experience, although pace wouldn't go amiss)
RW (if they could play both sides even better, but right sided is priority)
FW (will need to remove at least one of Bassette/BTA/Simms though)

For those wanting Tyrique George may want to look away.

RB Leipzig keen on him. Championship clubs are keen on a loan which Chelsea want but he wants permanent move away from the club for more game time.
