I wonder if we could get George, Guiu, Vega and Gilchrist. Just a thought
Watched Gilchrist a few times for Sheff United and he was their obvious weak link - Chowdhury player there toward end of the season out of position.

I would say. I am very surprised Lampard seemingly hasn't tapped into his Chelsea contacts once since he's been here. Also surprised we haven't signed any 'big named' washed up PL players, with Lampard as the pull.

Clear DK is making us stick to 'the model'

It is a very different situation at Chelsea now - Lampard had a lot closer ties to the previous regime than this one

There is also that Derby were willing to pay high wages for the loans - something Doug won't do

Wages were just the tip of the iceberg. They paid millions in loan fees to get bring in those players.

Lampard's connections mean very little really unless he has an owner which is willing to essentially write blank cheques as he had under Mel Morris.

Vast majority of PL clubs now will either want to move their youth players on permanently for PSR or farm them out to the highest bidder on loan.

Hear an awful lot about this lad. Has anyone actually watched him? Or just seen he used to play for Barcelona youth team and assumed he’s class and ready for men’s football.
He played and scored for their first team and they wanted to keep him but he had a silly low release clause and Chelsea tempted him away.

He'd be an unbelievable signing for us but not realistic imo. Would have prem interest.

I don't think it's as much of a thing these days that managers would 'use their contacts' in order to bring players in.

There will be a team at Chelsea in charge of youth development that pinpoint correct loans for their players and an ex-player/manager isn't going to alter that.

We also have a proper recruitment strategy that isn't going to by a cheeky favour.

Adi did it a fair bit but I think that's mainly because he was youth manager a number of years before and we were at the bottom of the pyramid meaning we could pick up players that had failed at the top on a free.

Watched him score a hattrick in Europe last year, other than that no

'The model' was broke when we signed Grimes. £3.5m on a player we will never get a penny back on.

We shall see very soon if and where the loans are coming from. I would put us at the top of Chelsea loans because we're a top Championship side and the Lampard factor.

It's more important to most of the big clubs where their players go than how much they can get towards their cost. We're going to be challenging at or near the top.

According to Cov Live, Besiktas had a bid of €6 million rejected by the club for MVE. €6 million Euro is around £5.2 million in sterling ?

To an extent, yes. However, had Derby not paid the loan fees demanded by Chelsea those players categorically wouldn't have gone there.

The only influence Lampard had was that he was able to get to the front of the queue for their signature, the loan fees would've been a non-negotiable.

This isn’t true.

the model is not that we will only ever buy players with a big sell on value. Just as it isn’t for Brighton who have Milner and Wellbeck.

The model is we will invest predominantly in players we can improve and sell for a profit to fund further investments and we will add experience where it makes sense to improve our chances of promotion.

The big pay day for owners is owning a Prem League team the transfer business in between is just how you try and fund getting there !

If we get to the Prem I expect Doug to try and sell the club at that point.

Yeah it's a complete myth.

Since DK arrived the club has definitely looked at more experienced players which probably wouldn't have generated much, if any, resale value. Worrall and Browne being the most notable names that we know of.

Did we ever get players direct from Chelsea due to Adi Viveash?, I think it was more his knowledge of the youth players that had already moved on.
