Prompts an interesting question though: we effectively ‘lost’ a season post-Hamer, with the lack of creativity / drive from midfield, but gained £15m.

Give or take, that £15m - arguably/ultimately - allowed us to bring in: MVE (£3.4m), Rudoni (£5m), Mason Clarke (£4.25m), Saka (£1.2m) and, say, Thomas (£2m).

So, assuming that’s ’the model’, are we all happy effectively ‘burning’ a season after the big sales - assuming that we wait for the right replacements and the longer term trajectory of the club is positive (which is seems to be)?

For me, it’s a resounding yes - but we need to remember that after the next big sale: MVE, Rudoni, Wright etc - that £15m is now, conservatively, worth £30m/£40m, and we’re a better overall team for it.

The key is the replacements. Brentford lost their 2 best players (Watkins & Benrahma) and still got promoted - they didn't burn or lose a season

Clearly our replacements fell through and we had to get Ayari. We were still pushing for Swift on deadline day IIRC (glad we missed out)

Was also the recruitment teams first window - the KKH deal points to us being more prepared for departures than before

People often refer to the Brentford or Brighton model as being the bar to hit, but the one I'd prefer is Fulham. Nothing extravagant, not relying on eye watering fees outgoing or incoming, just sustainable incremental progress. Granted their owner is minted.

Angus Gunn rumour on twitter. 12 month contract. Good back up, cover for a year?
good old JH back in full force, 2 in 2 days.

For record, AG would be better than Wilson and Collins - he had an outstanding season 2 years ago, year Norwich reached play offs v Leeds. However really fell off cliff last year. Again just for argument sake - couldn't see him taking a 12month deal.

he is deffo better than what we have now. I would take him and fill that void but 12 months not sure. Depends who his other offers are. Can’t see him short of offers tbf.

Let’s assume there’s any truth to it.

Why only 12 months? Would imagine it would be two or even three at a push?
To prove himself maybe?
Was good a couple of years ago, but been shite since apparently, Norwich fans not going to miss him. so maybe we dont want to over commit too soon.
