So assume Esse is done and announced today, I think this has been a great proactive start.

Assuming no outgoings I think we have one more space in the squad. Wonder what position we’ll focus on

It used to be that Clubs would specify in contracts a maximum mileage that players could live away from the training ground or stadium itself.

This may have changed now.

On the Wilson rumour, I do think it’s unlikely we sign him, it would be stuff of fairytales if we did and Callum fired us to promotion.

Saddlebrains is offering out handjobs again if it happens

We are in dire needs of a CM

The fact we are in 2026 still playing Allen and Eccles as a partnership is criminal.
Sheaf was sold late in the day and never replaced.

CM is a must for me

That makes sense imo. I think Doug has had a mindset shift now that we’re so close to promotion; he may realize the risk of spending now on perms could backfire with the newly bought players being pony in the prem.
Makes sense but I also have a feeling, with literally nothing to back this up with, that we’re going to make 1 or 2 ‘big’ permanent signings.

It will be a CM. Thats our next target

Dont be surprised to see an LB either

Andrews will be going out on loan to L1 Once we get the CM in, lot of interested clubs for Andrews

Wingers are midfielders not forwards they are just not central midfielders.

In the same way full backs are defenders but they are not central defenders.

The complication is that some systems / players have converted from being central strikers to wide forwards but in this case they don’t have much defensive responsibility …. Mo Salah for example provides little cover for his full back.

We play with wide midfielders and they are expected to track back. Tats is better at it than EMC and EmC is better at it than Wright ( which is one of the reasons I don’t think Frank likes wright wide left )

Harry Amass and Dan Neil would be brilliant if Doug doesnt want to spend any money.
Amass on loan, Neil for a very small fee as his contract is nearly done, Wilson on a free with goals and promotion incentives. That would be an excellent window and he'd still have about £15 million left over in supposedly available transfer funds to spend on his other activities.

Look at most top leagues, the top scorers will have just as many wingers or ‘inside forwards’ amongst them as strikers.

In modern football, most teams play 1 striker and therefore, the goal scoring burden typically picked up by two strikers needs to be picked up across the starting 11, hence why AMs and wingers look more and more closer to forwards as years pass.

Sakamoto is not better in his role than EMC, I’m sorry. Even defensively, EMC has overtook Sakamoto in tackles and blocks per 90 as well as possession won in final 3rd period 90. Last season, Sakamoto was comfortably ahead in all but 1 category which demonstrates just how quickly EMC was progressed.

Defo think Dan Neil is a strong possibility, just opinion though. Lampard will get another level out of him.
At LWB as someone above said Cirkin would be a great signing if bidwell goes.
Then if Brau goes maybe brother forward.

To think people were losing their heads when we hadn’t made a signing on the 5th! 😂

Summed up a chunk of our supporters at the moment. Desperate to throw someone under the bus after a wobble, it was kings turn this week… even though since the end of last season hes kept hold of all our best players, brought in the best keeper in the league/added to the squad, bought the stadium and overseen a team that’s been top of the league all season

Said it before, other supporters would piss themselves if they saw some of the shit on here

Andrews needs a loan too, showed some decent glimpses but not yet at the level we’re at so a productive loan again will do him a lot of good!

To add to the hilarity, the 5th of Jan was only the second working day of the year. You need the NHS to do medicals as well as the various offices that register players internally and externally.

King has been a great owner and people worrying about him screwing over Lampard are indulging in conspiracy theory thinking.

You are right on this, deals take time. But it looks like things were lined up. The medicals are done through private healthcare. I’d imagine it would be Spire though not the NHS.
